The problem could have been said to begin when Fujitaka brought the mask - black, age-stained, and horned - back home from the Archaelogy department. To this Fujitaka would have replied, in slightly hurt tones, that the problem had begun when one of the graduate students on Iwata-san's dig had fallen sick, and that he had fixed the problem in removing the mask to his home.
