Could it really be that simple to duplicate what Uncle Justin had done? The cost, though inconvenient, would be well within my ability to pay.

So it was kind of a surprise that this gorgeous blonde had suddenly shown up to tell me Daniel had sent her.

The dark-haired young man standing in the flaming circle would definitely qualify for White Council ranks someday, if he hadn't graduated from brown robes already.

I know that there are rumors, in certain communities, that I am obsessed with Dresden and keep him under surveillance at all times, and I wish to take this chance to firmly dispell those rumors. 75% of the time, Dresden's activities are well below the level that I can afford to concern myself with, and when it does impinge on my business, I can generally afford to wait for information to come in through my regular channels - either the general intelligence-gathering networks, or, recently, through the official lines of the Accords.
However, there's his insistence on living in a neighborhood otherwise occupied entirely by retired and inquisitive Italian grandmothers who have too much time on their hands and not nearly enough handsome young men in their lives. Marcone hates the thought of Harry being in a relationship with Thomas. Mainly because if he had Harry's attention he'd never let him go. It drives him insane that Thomas just doesn't seem to care that much but Harry seems to love him anyway.

Marcone concocts a plan to make Harry happy--by making sure Thomas makes Harry happy--no matter how much it pains Marcone to do so. If/when that doesn't work there's always the last resort--steal Harry away to do it himself.

(The prompt was "what might have been", and I was writing this as an alternate ending to the cavern scene in "White Night". But then I realized that this idea really works best if it happens after that, so I pretty much just recreated that scene. Then I realized this wasn't a "what might have been" anymore, but a future fic instead. )
