Now her shoulders are still square to the camera but the tilt creates a diagonal line and her waist is twisted in a different direction than her shoulder. Her face is also slightly pointed away from the direction her shoulders are pointed—always a good idea. Looser cropping also helps place her body within a large context in the frame.

Photography Business Names
When you use a business name that’s different than your own personal name, you’ll be developing and promoting an identity that’s separate from yourself.

And that’s fine if you’re selling stuff that’s not really related to you. For example, if you have a shoe store on 3rd street, “Third Street Shoes” is an OK name.

Most photography businesses, however, promote the services of a particular person, or are at least identified with one primary person. Having a separate name for that person’s photography business detracts from promoting the person.

Photo Books - Portfolio Tips, Part II: Outside Printing Sources
I chose three book-printing services, Blurb, Shutterfly and Sony ImageStation, and went through their layout and ordering process using a Mac OS 10.4. To judge the quality of other book printing services, I tested their layout and ordering systems, and either received samples or viewed actual books printed and bound by the companies.
