This is not Chernobyl – Response to Skewed Media Coverage of Fukushima Nuclear Plant Incident -HESO Magazine
"If you’ve been reading the foreign press about the “toxic cloud” hanging over Tokyo, you should know that I’m fine. Everyone in Tokyo is fine." among other things, evacuations of foreign nationals seem to be mostly about logistics, power outages, etc.

Should the government be spending tax dollars printing tiny type in newspapers? The arguments in favor » Nieman Journalism Lab

Documenting the Decade - NYTimes.com
towards the end, there's a juxtaposition of a photo of a man going thru a trash can against the next photo of a shiny new iPhone -- it seems to say everything to me. And though this decade past brought a lot of good things into my life, looking back seems like just one f'ed up thing after another.

Reflections of a Newsosaur: How to sell news on the web: A checklist
the graph is kinda lame, but the checklist is interesting to consider. something that came up a couple of times in the (mostly so-so) comments is the factor of convenience, either in form factor (Kindle) or in bundling/researching (niche content?).

Requiem For A Newspaper, Part I: There’s nothing more we can do | Seattle Metblogs
"I think a lot of people dismissing the idea of a single-market, online-only news site forget that a city can be a niche just like a neighborhood or an industry." CBS News With Katie Couric hypes a nontrend: teens and bombs. - By Jack Shafer - Slate Magazine
Apparently the ACTUAL trend is that teens are setting off FEWER bombs. Tales of my youth: my HS/college sweetheart & his best friend made nitroglycerin in a bathtub in their early teens; I knew another boy who almost lost a hand from a homemade pipe bomb.
