Metro Bank Harrisburg: An Example in Failure : floor9.com
"Commerce Bank Harrisburg was always well-known for treating their customers well. And yet it’s as if Metro Bank — with the same people in charge, mind you — has thrown out everything they knew about good customer service. From major faults such as cutting off ATM cards with no warning, to tiny details (such as having their customer service reps recite an uncomfortably-long 20-second greeting when they answer the phone), Metro Bank has really fouled this one up." Yipes. Plus, don't miss the "f off" from someone claiming to be an employee in the comments!

How the subprime good guys give home loans to poor people, strengthen communities, and still make a profit. - By Daniel Gross - Slate Magazine
"Since 2003, this for-profit firm based in Orange County—home to busted subprime behemoths such as Ameriquest—has issued $220 million worth of mortgages in the Golden State's subprime killing fields. More than 90 percent of its home loans have gone to first-time buyers, about half of whom are minorities. Out of 770 single-family loans it has made, how many foreclosures have there been? "As far as we know," says Bystry, "seven." Last year Clearinghouse reported a $1.4 million pretax profit." institutions in the article include some credit unions.
