In which there is a lot of knitting and a lot of love of all kinds. DELIGHTFUL.

In which director Kirk decides he is the man to make script-doctor McCoy's long-shelved, disconcertingly autobiographical indie tear-jerker, and somewhere in the course of making that movie a reality about 8000 things happen and also they fall in love. This fic was transcendentally good. At times a truly hilarious, truly insightful commentary on Hollywood culture, at others a deeply interesting and deeply amazing take on the canon, it somehow adds up to something greater than the sum of its parts. Also, supporting characters/relationships that are TO DIE FOR: Spock and Kirk's lifelong friendship/working relationship, everything about McCoy and Joanna together (especially the private screening omg tears on my face), Nero moonlighting as JAMES FUCKING CAMERON OMG, Uhura as a capital-L Lady, everything about her and Spock, everything about Gaila and Scotty and being her light... OK just, every single fucking person who gets lines in this fic, I guess. Even Khan.

In which aliens and sex pollen and everything else makes them do it. A lot. Awkward and hilarious.

In which Jim gets amnesia and reverts to his teenage self. Amnesiac!Kirk wandering around the Enterprise was sort of melancholy and absolutely fascinating, but the OT4 "twist" at the end really threw me off. Seriously, why not just leave it Kirk/McCoy and Spock/Uhura? It's only McCoy that betrays undue tension with Kirk, and their reunion at the end seemed much more heartfelt than the others which seemed more, you know, otherpartsfelt. Whatever, this is a personal quibble about a fic that is just short of fantastic in the overall.

In which there is an epic NYC restaurant AU. I'm two and a half chapters into this fucking monster and it's already the most awesome fucking thing ever. It even makes me love Chekov POV, and that is some miraculous shit, I am telling you. Update #2: It also makes me miss New York like anyfuckingthing, see for example: "Pike had reminded him to buy a Metrocard, so there he was, standing in front of the machine that refused to just be nice and take his money and give him one. After accidentally requesting Chinese instructions instead of English and then choosing the wrong kind of card, Jim found himself crushing his twenty-dollar bill in his fist, ready to just knock the damn thing over, like a hulking cow in a field." The flashback chapter to Jim, Accidental Tourist, has got me screaming with laughter in a way only fellow non-native New Yorkers would understand. Update #3: Into the double digits now and this fic deserves every expletive I can throw at it. Superlafuckingtively good.

D'awwww, ickle!Spock and ickle!Uhura!

In which there's something a little too perfect about Jim Kirk's charmed life--perfect lover, perfect job--and it turns out it has nothing to do with him and everything to do with Starfleet. From a kinkmeme request for Star Trek meets Dollhouse. DEAR LORD, this was gut-wrenchingly creepy and heartbreakingly sad and yet it was so, so good. A pitch perfect psychological realism that leaves you horrified and nauseated and oddly thrilled. To paraphrase one commenter's quip, you kind of stumble away from it wanting to punch the author in the face and then make out with her. Brilliantly disturbed, I feel/the author must be/the fic is.

In which Bones is a werewolf, and Jim is his mate. Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I don't know how to rec this fic other than to say it is AWESOME, SO AWESOME, OMFG.

In which Jim acquired a Vulcan mentor after his rescue from Tarsus IV. A tale of hope and translation studies. Thiiiiiis. My heart is full up on family that doesn't end with blood. Also on laughter because the big "Jim knows Vulcan?!?" reveal was worth every minute of the sleep I sacrificed to get to it. If I could, I would draw big animated hearts all around this fic that burst into sparkly fireworks in a continuous, giddy loop.

In which Jim Kirk's horrifyingly hilarious come-ons to Nyota go from annoying to reassuring to integral as their lives progress. This, this, this. Hilarious, lovely, absolutely touching. BTdubs, the Kirk/Uhura doesn't reeeally happen, just sort of hovers on the edge of possibility in a couple of crisis situations. Which contains the lines: Nyota resigns herself to the inevitability of the fact that, when her daughter turns thirteen or so, she’s going to develop a massive crush on Jim Kirk, who will probably be utterly wonderful about it and gently redirect her attentions to some more appropriate object, and remain her Cool Uncle Jim while Nyota and Spock become people she’s embarrassed to be seen with in public.

“I like you thiiiiiis much!” Kirk says, still looking adoringly down at the baby, with a big goofy smile.

Oddly, Nyota’s sort of looking forward to it.

In which aliens make Kirk do it in his dreams with Uhura, Spock, and Bones, and the person it means the most with suprises him. This was sort of a weirdly constructed fic, but I liked the dynamics of it quite a lot.

In which they're scared, but they're ready, and they're figuring it out. Also, somehow Spock and Kirk got mind-married at some point, which is an awesome bomb to drop into a Kirk/McCoy & Spock/Uhura fic, and I mean that in utter sincerity. Also, once again, the mission in this fic was just face-meltingly complicated and weirdly fascinating. Seriously, how does this author do it? Sequel to What Was Done in Capernaum.

In which Uhura and Kirk are stranded in a hostage situation when she goes into labor. Amazing. Amazing! Also, pretty darn hilarious. Best Spock ever.

In which they're in HIMYM world, with Jim as Barney. There's only one word for this epic crossover and it's legend--I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word is--DARY!

In which Uhura gets infected with a sex-crazed alien mind, and starts propositioning everybody with a Y chromosome, but they're all too chicken to go for it and risk Spock's wrath. Hot! Hilarious! Kirk being an imperfect, but good captain! Amazing finishing joke! Approved.

Which does what it says on the tin. These range from breathtakingly hilarious to breathtakingly sweet. Left me with a smile on my face, to say the least.

In which the bridge has a wager going about whether Kirk and McCoy are fucking or not, which of course leads to hilarity and hijinx from everyone.

In which Jim Kirk is the Editor in Chief at New York's premier fashion magazine, Enterprise. This is an awesome AU and I think that Spock/scarves is my new OTP.

In which we see how living together is working out for them. Sequel to A Suitable Arrangement. Hearts!

In which Spock proposes cohabitation with Uhura. Sweet with a touch of wicked humor.

In which both Uhuras don't quite get what they deserve, but they find ways to be content.

In which Uhura is 15 kinds of awesome, and also the hero of the hour. She is an action translator! Also, their flirting is hilarious.

In which Uhura has to deal with culture shock her first semester at Starfleet, what with an Orion roommate and a Vulcan crush. Cute, funny, I like them here--everybody all young and earnest.

In which Spock realizes the victory in cheating. The implications of this fic are staggeringly satisfying.

In which there is communication of desire.

In which they are greater together than the sum of their parts. Lovely and long.

In which Kirk is obsessed with trying to get a sexual rise out of Spock, and that leads to its inevitable conclusion. Hahahaha. Once again loving a fic where Kirk is a total idiot for Spock.

In which Jim finally gets up the nerve to ask how Uhura and Spock got together.

In which Spock is not so great with the word "love."

In which Spock struggles with his feelings. I think maybe the family stuff in the beginning was the best part, but the whole thing was loaded with deliciously well-considered introspection.

In which Jim is really, really interested in a threesome, and about as subtle about it as an anvil.

In which Spock gathers references on relating to human women. There's something inherently amusing about this premise that the fic sort of melts down into a warm fondness and then molds into something truly compelling. This fic gets an A!

In which Spock and Vulcan dirty talk are discussed and it is by all standards hotter than Kirk can imagine.
