In which Kurt makes a call, after he remembers there's a call to make. Sequel to To The Victor. AAHHHHH, perfect.

In which Kurt considers who to write in for the Teacher of the Year award. This fic gives some really brutal insights to Kurt and Blaine, but I thought the tone that the author struck in their considerations, particularly in Kurt's internal POV, really fit with them as characters. It's a fic that packs a meta punch, but the blows are pulled just enough to allow for understanding and a fair measure of forgiveness.

In which Brittany says that Kurt was her best kiss, and suddenly everyone wants in. Hahaha, S1!ND shenanigans, what a beautiful branch of fanfiction you were.

In which there are other people at McKinley watching Kurt, not with disgust, but with envy. I love that fandom is curious about this girl and if she might be in the closet, about the strange ways she's like some of us (identifying and invested), but not (for having it living out in front of her).

In which Dalton makes Kurt fall in love with school. Waaaay jossed, but delightful. LEARNING IS FUN, OKAY.

In which Kurt is autistic in this fic, and that changes eerily little about canon, but puts Kurt's canon behaviors in a vastly different perspective. Fascinating, and carefully, painstakingly well-done. I can't wait to see more of this.

In which we see Kurt in quiet moments, biding and saving and shoring his time. This fic was really lovely for the look we get of Kurt in moments of understated courage and simple affection. And the meta revolving around his clothing choices was enchanting and on point.

"In the narrative, Kurt transfers to Dalton Academy to escape bullying and joins the Warblers, an all-male a cappella group fronted by gay crooner Blaine. Musically, Glee also takes a big leap, shifting from exposing the homophobic, misogynist stigma surrounding male singing to actively shattering it and singing on its grave."

As much as I love this writer's fanfic, it doesn't hold a candle to what her meta makes me feel.

"Giving Kurt a “hero’s journey” on Glee was always going to be a daring choice, because he’s a gay kid and because he performs gay in the particular way he does. But to take a gay kid who the world too easily wants to read as weak and make him a magician — that is, someone with the power to change others and bend reality to his will — is a truly risky and starling choice. It makes Kurt powerful, threatening, and seductive. It normalizes his gender presentation through function (because in a dichotomous system magicianship requires a union of the genders and an ability to step outside that union); and it confronts, side-steps and perhaps even embodies Glee‘s awkward preoccupation with the “predatory gay” stereotype, with a sort of enviable power.

Kurt, like most of Glee‘s main characters, has another year in Lima, but his season two arc shows us that he’s already gotten out."

In which Kurt survives the most challenging months of his life. Goes AU after Never Been Kissed, but starts before that. God, this was hard to read, but in a good way. I kind of loved that Kurt couldn't stand Finn in this, or stand to take any crap from Glee Club. I love that it showed Kurt's immense strength, but also how much of a teenager he still is, imperfect for all of his posturing at the opposite.

In which Kurt grows wings, and everything changes. This fic series is one of the most hard, most scarring, most truly terrible things I've ever read in fandom. But it's also one of the most important. It's about how bad people with money make all the rules and good people with ideas can only do so much so fast. It's about rape culture, and trauma, and the incrementally slow process of recovery. It's about how even the best people are imperfect in truly horrible ways. But it's also about family and altruism and changing hearts and minds, against all odds, against hostilities and atrocities, against hope. It's about how beautiful this world can be, could be, if people gave themselves the chance to be better. I can't tell people to read this fic. It's hard and it's long and 60% of it is triggery and horribly difficult to get through, but I have to urge you. It's important.

In which Kurt decides what to wear for the Monday after prom. Jesus, this was so perfectly Kurt. :(( Upsetting and sad, but also so damn brave that it hurts.

In which Kurt may not fit in at Dalton, but the wonderful thing is that the Warblers don't care. This was a lovely, lovely bit of meta about how awesome the Warblers are and I'm a little bit in love right now, ngl.

Oh. My. God. O____________O This was just 100% amazingness in my eyeballs. I say this like it's a crackvid, but actually I am just so overwhelmed by it's quality... Amazingness. In my eyeballs. In my solar plexus. In my heart. The timing and the color and the clip choices, dear LORD above, I have no idea. Go watch.

In which Kurt slowly learns that the only way to survive at Dalton with one's sanity intact is to embrace a when-in-Rome philosophy. Adorable.

In which adolescence is a trying time for everyone, but Kurt is taking it with a unique kind of despairing sarcasm. Which contains the lines: "'Because if this is — I don't know, some kind of date,' Burt says, 'I want to talk to him.' Kurt has a vivid and terrible mental image of how that would go. 'Oh, sure,' he lies. 'And by talk to him,' Burt elaborates, 'I mean hit him with this tire iron.' Sighing at the tire iron, Kurt says, 'I gathered, Dad.'" Man, I loved this fic so fucking much. Teenagers, man! They're hilarious.

In which Kurt takes over Winter Ball prep for the girls and his is FABULOUS AT IT. My God, this is possibly the most unashamedly gay thing I have ever read and it was so good I may have teared up a little at the end. Oh, Kurt, my love for you just grows and grows.

In which Kurt's been let down by just about everybody except himself, his music, and someone unexpected. Jeez, I kind of don't know what to say about this fic, except that it WORKS. I had to keep stopping to put on the songs he was singing because they just fit perfectly into the scene and I wanted to listen to them properly before I read on. But above and beyond that, and the generally good writing, is the fact that this fic just conveys so much struggle and so much strength and so much character, this was a beautiful thing to read, something truly inspiring. Also, people need to stop making me want to listen to that Defying Gravity duet any more than I already do because at this rate it might actually kill me to have to wait until November 3rd to hear it in full.
