In which Kirk tries to propose to Bones to keep them from being reassigned to different ships, but McCoy proves reticent for reasons that quickly become abundantly clear are not "because that it stupid and/or dishonest." 

In which McCoy's got a new spring in his step, and Jim isn't so much begrudging of the cause of Bones's newfound cheeriness as he is ragingly curious and determined to become a part of it, whatever 'it' might be. This was completely adorable and hilarious and awesome. 

In which Jim always thought he and Bones were just best friends, but Bones' expanding relationships with other members of the crew start to complicate that convenient assumption. Ahaha, so much denial, so many adorable acts of restrained jealousy. I love it.

In which director Kirk decides he is the man to make script-doctor McCoy's long-shelved, disconcertingly autobiographical indie tear-jerker, and somewhere in the course of making that movie a reality about 8000 things happen and also they fall in love. This fic was transcendentally good. At times a truly hilarious, truly insightful commentary on Hollywood culture, at others a deeply interesting and deeply amazing take on the canon, it somehow adds up to something greater than the sum of its parts. Also, supporting characters/relationships that are TO DIE FOR: Spock and Kirk's lifelong friendship/working relationship, everything about McCoy and Joanna together (especially the private screening omg tears on my face), Nero moonlighting as JAMES FUCKING CAMERON OMG, Uhura as a capital-L Lady, everything about her and Spock, everything about Gaila and Scotty and being her light... OK just, every single fucking person who gets lines in this fic, I guess. Even Khan.

In which Bones has proclamations of doom about Gailia's wedding ceremony and Jim has predictions of awesomeness, and it turns out they're both sort of right.

In which McCoy is from the present day and he meets Captain Kirk when Jim's stuck in a trans-time singularity (think Time Traveller's Wife, but only lasting a week for Jim and 15 years for McCoy). This was actually pretty cool. I enjoyed myself!

In which Jim is intrigued by the grumpy guy he meets on the shuttle, and so he checks McCoy out to make sure he does this whole friendship thing right. Ahaha, he doesn't exactly do it right, but he does get the job done, and in an amusing and kind of endearing fashion. I was kind of both annoyed and impressed by Jim's voice in this fic, because I mean, it's probably true to life that Kirk would answer "how cool you are," but it's not exactly elegant, yeah? Well, the rest of the fic is like that too, almost annoyingly realistic, but kind of impressive in achieving that.

In which aliens and sex pollen and everything else makes them do it. A lot. Awkward and hilarious.

In which Jim gets amnesia and reverts to his teenage self. Amnesiac!Kirk wandering around the Enterprise was sort of melancholy and absolutely fascinating, but the OT4 "twist" at the end really threw me off. Seriously, why not just leave it Kirk/McCoy and Spock/Uhura? It's only McCoy that betrays undue tension with Kirk, and their reunion at the end seemed much more heartfelt than the others which seemed more, you know, otherpartsfelt. Whatever, this is a personal quibble about a fic that is just short of fantastic in the overall.

In which Jim is a struggling witch and McCoy is the head of a vampire coven and their love is difficult but not impossible. I. LOVED. THIS. Definitely need to read this book series now.

In which Bones has been dealing with bad customer service all day and Jim knows just the way to cheer her up.

In which Winona makes choices for herself, and maybe they're not great ones for her family, but luckily she's got Kirks for boys, and they have a knack for figuring things out on their own. I kind of loved Winona in this. She's not redeemed, but she's not a monster. She's just a person. And somehow everything turns out for the best.

In which Jim takes a class just because Bones is the TA and the opportunities for mockery are endless, but then it turns out Jim is actually really turned on by Bones's sexy, sexy brain.

In which Bones gets roped into a charity auction (you know the kind I'm talking about) and Jim buys a clue.

In which Bones shares Jim with the Enterprise, and has learned to love her the way Jim does. This was absolutely beautiful prose. Evocative and sharply rendered, but with the overall tone and effect of a loving caress.

In which Jim becomes Bones' kissing buddy (he misses it from his marriage), but in true Jim fashion, kissing is only the start. Ahhhh, Bones is so badass in this, and Kirk's voice is so delightfully dry and clever. Loved it!

In which McCoy is Facebook stalking Jim and Jim is morose about football. Endearing and hilarious. Now I really want to read the AU in the works that this is a oneshot for.

In which Jim is McCoy's angel companion/guardian/friend, a la Supernatural's Dean and Cas, except with a lot more suggestiveness. OH MY GOD, this fulfills a need in my soul that I hadn't even realized existed.

In which McCoy wins Jim's heart just by being himself.

In which Jim has had trouble with nightmares since he was little. Oooooh, I liked this.

In which they dance the complicated dance of roommate awkwardness versus sexual tension awkwardness.

In which McCoy's life is entirely too troubled by aphrodisiacs... or is it just troubled enough? >:DDDD

In which they are handcuffed together, exiled on a foreign planet that smells like old socks, with no food or shelter, and the worst thing about the situation is that Bones isn't speaking to Jim. Hahaha, awwwww, hilarious, lovely, they are the bestest.

In which Jim and McCoy meet at different times. Wooooo, sexy time travel fic!

In which Spock is a dog-whisperer, McCoy is his cameraman, and Kirk is the subject with the out-of-control dog. Wahahaha, I want to be horrified that they made Uhura the dog, but in the context of the fic, I have to admit that it works.

In which there are five times that Kirk really understands that he can always trust McCoy. Thiiiiiiisssss. Man, Kirk being all kinds of hesitantly needy and McCoy just being a good friend, and a good man, and just all around awesome, yessssss.

In which McCoy sets out to win a round of poker against Jamie Kirk. OH MY GOD, HAHA, THE TWIST AT THE END. Kind of predictable, but only because you -know- Jim's character. Nonetheless, oh maaaaan, epic win. :DDD

In which Jim thinks a lot of things, but Len has gotten good at reading between the lines.

In which Jim is an injury-prone cop and McCoy works in the ER of Jim's hospital of choice. Kind of abrupt at the end, but charming.

In which there is an epic NYC restaurant AU. I'm two and a half chapters into this fucking monster and it's already the most awesome fucking thing ever. It even makes me love Chekov POV, and that is some miraculous shit, I am telling you. Update #2: It also makes me miss New York like anyfuckingthing, see for example: "Pike had reminded him to buy a Metrocard, so there he was, standing in front of the machine that refused to just be nice and take his money and give him one. After accidentally requesting Chinese instructions instead of English and then choosing the wrong kind of card, Jim found himself crushing his twenty-dollar bill in his fist, ready to just knock the damn thing over, like a hulking cow in a field." The flashback chapter to Jim, Accidental Tourist, has got me screaming with laughter in a way only fellow non-native New Yorkers would understand. Update #3: Into the double digits now and this fic deserves every expletive I can throw at it. Superlafuckingtively good.

In which Kirk is very grateful for McCoy's continued presence and help in his life. I am mirroring Jim's shit eating grin as I type this.

In which there's something a little too perfect about Jim Kirk's charmed life--perfect lover, perfect job--and it turns out it has nothing to do with him and everything to do with Starfleet. From a kinkmeme request for Star Trek meets Dollhouse. DEAR LORD, this was gut-wrenchingly creepy and heartbreakingly sad and yet it was so, so good. A pitch perfect psychological realism that leaves you horrified and nauseated and oddly thrilled. To paraphrase one commenter's quip, you kind of stumble away from it wanting to punch the author in the face and then make out with her. Brilliantly disturbed, I feel/the author must be/the fic is.

In which McCoy rejects Kirk for stupid reasons and Spock springs to Kirk's aid by torturing Bones with bureaucratic and technological mishaps until Bones finally admits defeat and his feelings. SPOOOOOOCK, lolololololololol. I loved this so much. Hilarious. I love these three so much, a need more triumvirate fic in my life.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Confusion and delight.

In which they become space pirates. Sequel to Prison Break, from "Four Ways Jim Kirk and Leonard McCoy Could Have Met..." Once again, radically different circumstances, yet uncannily dead on characterization. Loved. Also giggled like mad. Something about "Bones" being a pirate nickname is getting to me in a big way.

In which Kirk and McCoy meet when they're young, and when they get older the big brother complex and the hero worship develop into something more. I really liked this. I openly like it because despite so many things being different in this fic, their core personalities are still absolutely, delightfully dead on. But also, secretly, I like the idea of whirlwind!jailbait!Kirk going after responsible!conflicted!Bones because it reminds me of 70% of the yaoi I devoured as a teen. A good fic and guilty pleasure at the same time!

Four ways Kirk and McCoy didn't meet, and one way they did. Loved just about everything about just about all of these.

The tenderness just envelops this piece.

In which Bones is not very creative with his food porn. This managed to be pretty hot whenever I could stop myself laughing long enough to pay attention to what was actually going on. Not really the author's fault, although maybe she was asking for it. Something about the last line makes me think that she probably was.

In which Jane Kirk has been known to throw herself into situations, but the results have never turned out to be this interesting before. My love for the genderbenders continues unabated.

In which Jim is in awe of Bones. This was lovely and tender and good. Oh introspective fic. When you are done right, you can be so amazing, and this fic does you right.

In which Kirk gets space-whammied into saying whatever he's thinking.

In which Jim is distracted by Bones and Spock needs to shut up. I really liked the soc voice here--a nice change of pace.

In which the goddess he met the other night at a Risian bar turns out to be the daughter of Winona Kirk, the woman his father is marrying in a few days. Hot! And kind of surprisingly poignant.

In which Jim and Bones go to Joanna's Christmas pageant. This was the cutest thing ever, Joanna is the cutest thing ever, she is my favorite, the end.

In which Bones plays Santa for the Starfleet Medical pediatric ward and Jim is there to record the hallmark moment...for future blackmailing purposes. THIS. OMFG, THIS WAS THE CUTEST THING EVER. AND SO SLY, TOO. But it was also just sooooo them. This is my heart melting in delight.

In which Jim and Bones reach a kind of equilibrium in their budding relationship, and everything is falling into place for the big five year mission. Awww, this series.

In which there are the continued adventures of Jim and Bones, co-parents and lady-killers extraordinaire, except Jim is starting to clue in that maybe that is not the be-all-end-all of his ever-evolving relationship with Bones. God, this series! Hot and pointed and just plain great. A+

In which Jim tries to make Christmas happen on the bridge and gets a little attached to their empathic alien Christmas tree. Cuuuuute.

In which the bridge crew is surprisingly invested in getting Jim and Bones to make out. This fic has my favorite kind of Bones and my favorite kind of Jim and my favorite kind of bridge dynamic in a fic that revolves around MISTLETOE PRANKS. OMFG, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MEEEE.

In which Jo is scarred many times in her life overhearing and walking in on her dad and Jim. HAHAHAHA, when she was little she was convinced Jim was a vampire!!! The spoooooon!

In which Bones is a werewolf, and Jim is his mate. Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I don't know how to rec this fic other than to say it is AWESOME, SO AWESOME, OMFG.

In which the alien Christmas tree releases sex pollen. :DDDD This fic was really fun, but I especially enjoyed the solution.

In which Jim is a lot more careful and responsible than people give him credit for. This fic actually made me kind of angry for Kirk at points--this characterization of him deserves much better than this characterization of his peers--which is so not what I wanted out of what could have been such a cracky kink prompt. Still, I have to give it props. It really rocked its serious angle in a subtle, gets-to-you kind of way.

In which Kirk's rooms are heavily damaged by enemy fire and he has to find a place to stay for a while, prompting him to finally woo Bones like he's been meaning to for years. This was hilarious and sexy and just plain good. The only issue I have is that the crack plays kind of heavy-handedly into Kirk's voice, giving it a rambling, overly-dramatic kind of quality that ultimately rings false. However, that voice is one of the most endearing things about the fic, so I just can't complain too hard about it.

In which Jim runs away from his step-father to escape marriage to a baron of dubious repute, and along the way meets a grumpy doctor fresh from the war on the Continent, who may be just the help Jim needs. ANOTHER REGENCY AU OF AWESOMENESS. A++

Unrequited, but awwwwwwesome. I wish the aspect ratio was consistent, but whatever, I just love the concept.

In which Bones gets some temporary mind reading abilities, and finds out more than he ever expected to know about the rest of the crew.

In which they fix each other up after Nero. This was such a perfect pre-slash fic. Totally dispenses with the usual "flashes of something more" cliche that tells rather than shows. Instead, the friendship is all that's there, but the comfort and balance they provide each other is so profound you just know deep in your bones that they're meant for each other. Siiigh.

In which Sulu and McCoy bond about their boyfriends, among other things, while they're trapped in a cave-in situation.

In which Jim and Bones are in an insane asylum--Bones because he's a former doctor who can't help wanting to take people apart (think guro), and Jim because he's a paranoid schizophrenic who believes he's alternately a cocky starship captain and a logic-oriented alien. Ouch. But SOOOO interesting.

In which Jim and Joanna have a talk. About sex. Which Jim relates to Bones at a very inappropriate time. lol

In which aliens make Kirk do it in his dreams with Uhura, Spock, and Bones, and the person it means the most with suprises him. This was sort of a weirdly constructed fic, but I liked the dynamics of it quite a lot.

In which they take to each other like they're gravitational forces. This was interesting, basically Jim winning Bones over against his will, until Bones has to double back and assure Jim that he has indeed made a friend and something more. Except, okay, Kirk in these stories telegraphs his vulnerability waaaaaaay more than I would believe and his lack of balls in most instances just confuses the crap out of me, but the huge amount of friendship UST and the h/c flangst blinds me in the worst way, so I can't help saving it.

In which Bones and Kirk go back to visit Jim's mom in Iowa. Full of delicious, delicious UST.

In which Sulu finds out about Tarsus IV and decides to take the lesson he learns from it to heart in his current not-quite-relationship with Chekov.

In which Jim and Bones spend their last week of shore leave together with Joanna. Sequel to Under The Same Stars.

In which Bones goes back with Jim to visit his mom's house. Quiet, subdued, sad, but full of feeling nonetheless.

Mmmm, realistically drawn Kirk and McCoy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA--deap breath--HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. "Is Spock in Pon Farr? -> YES -> Redirect harasser's attentions accordingly." This was a thing of beauty.

In which they're scared, but they're ready, and they're figuring it out. Also, somehow Spock and Kirk got mind-married at some point, which is an awesome bomb to drop into a Kirk/McCoy & Spock/Uhura fic, and I mean that in utter sincerity. Also, once again, the mission in this fic was just face-meltingly complicated and weirdly fascinating. Seriously, how does this author do it? Sequel to What Was Done in Capernaum.

In which they both just want the other to be happy and themselves, and if they can be those things together, well, all the better. Which contains the lines: "...he loved Kirk’s body the way Kirk loved the Enterprise, the thing he protected and was protected by. He knew he loved his friend, and thought that he must love him back in whatever way he was able; hoped it included something at least a little greedy or selfish, something beyond loyalty and sacrifice." The Kirk in this was almost unnervingly detached at points, but it wasn't out of character so much as out of expectation of character, so he was interesting in his alien-ness. Sequel to Cura Te Ipsum.

In which Bones is jumpy and concerned about his growing attraction to Jim, and Jim is just not having any of it, so he jumps him. Not sure who should be saying thank you in this wham-bam situation, but it was a weird and yet also weirdly interesting read.

In which it's a slow slide from sleeping together to "sleeping together."

In which Jim forces Bones into meeting the parent, and things don't go quite according to expectations. Sequel to In A Moment Close To Now.

In which Jim Kirk makes lists ala Zombieland in his head, proposes before he says the l-word, and is generally an awesome force to be reckoned with (...in bed).

In which Jim gets whammied into believing he's an acolyte at a love temple, and is convinced Bones needs to be "saved" when the Enterprise comes to rescue him. This was weirdly kind of beautiful, and the ending was very cute.
