herbert pfostl's paper graveyard
"To Die No More is an artist's book about the marvelous embroideries of death taken from many sources both known and long forgotten.
170 fragments - from Aries to Wittgenstein - collected and edited by Herbert Pfostl and Kristofor Minta with splinters by Kristofor Minta, ruins, appropriated by James Walsh, and small paintings of shipwrecks, animals, and ashes by Herbert Pfostl.
Made with great care and sober like a good dream.
Dedicated to the deeply dead and the truly living.

formes brèves, autres, 25
27 jan - 8 apr 2012, 49 Nord 6 Est - FRAC Lorraine - Metz (57)
Curator : Anja Isabel Schneider
Anna Barham, Nina Beier & Marie Lund, Alejandro Cesarco, Amélie Dubois, Dora García, Fabio Kacero, David Lamelas, Ján Mančuška, Helen Mirra, Claire Morel, Tania Mouraud, Ewa Partum et Charles Sandison

"Anja Isabel Schneider’s project questions the notion of reading in its various modalities of experimentation, experience, and structure. This exhibition explores the question of “fragmentary” or elusive reading—that is, reading which resists and unsettles the reader. Every reader/visitor is thus given an essential role–that of an active reader. As a secular literary form, the forme brève privileges certain artistic genres: dedication, poem of circumstance, index, news flash, word play, witticism, haiku, fragment, maxim, etc. It solicits the imagination of the reader who is no longer a passive audience but becomes a producer. Between the texts and their readers, the spaces generated…"

(motly) Emblem of My Work
"To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Sterne's marbled page, which Sterne described as 'the motly emblem of my work', 169 artists and writers have been invited to design the Emblem of their own work. // Each contributor has generously donated the result to raise funds for the Laurence Sterne Trust." This blog shows the names of all the contributors and images of the works which can be seen in the Shandy Hall gallery until 31 October 2011. Each Emblem is displayed - but the maker's name is not visible. Each Emblem is for sale by auction.

conception and [beautiful] design of a book on the topic of “dream” ¶ "…the book is designed as a model of a dream about dreaming. Analogue to a dream, where pieces of reality are assembled to build a story, it brings different text excerpts together. They are connected by threads which tie in with certain key words. How ink is made
beautiful presentation by Peter Welfare, president and head inkmaker, The Printing Ink Company.
"The best ink will have the best gloss, the best running ability, the best set speed, the best rub resistance." some notes (to self): Big part of process is grinding (dispersion), to maximize reflective surfaces of pigment; Done with bead mill (thousands of tiny steel balls, for rough grind and developing color), and three-roller mill for high gloss.
