OCNN: Chad Ochocinco to Launch Twitter News Network
The details are sparse, but it seems the plan is to equip players with Motorola phones and have them Tweet out news before the major networks get wind of it. How that’s different from simply using Twitter as he does now is unclear, but perhaps there will be a centralized site aggregating all these Tweets. It’s a move that’s likely to further anger the NFL, which has been caught in a cat and mouse game over Ochocinco’s Twitter use. (via Mashable)

The Goods May Be Virtual, but the Profit Is Real
Analysts estimate that virtual goods could bring in a billion dollars in the United States and around $5 billion worldwide this year — all for things that, aside from perhaps a few hours of work by an artist and a programmer, cost nothing to produce. (via NY Times)

Barnes and Noble to Introduce e-Reader, the Nook - NYTimes.com
The eReader category continues to grow prior to the Christmas shopping season and the Barnes & Noble reader represents two very important things for this race:

1) a national footprint of "showrooms" - Amazon relies on it's web site, online buzz and it's owners to demonstrate their product - see: http://bit.ly/zqDpR. Sony meanwhile will have to rely on its distribution network and third party employees to demonstrate the product.

2) Loaning books. The Kindle is simple - you buy it, you own it, you keep it - for yourself. There is no way to transfer a book once its purchased for the Kindle. The Sony Pocket Reader series will let you sideload books that you've downloaded for free, and if you wish, you can pass along these books. If true, the B&N reader will let you pass along books you've purchased to another reader. This is a Killer feature which should appeal to wary consumers skeptical of "jumping in" to a new way of reading.

Flickr: The Official White House Photostream's Photostream
Have you checked out the photostream of the Obama administration in the White House? Frankly, its fuc$ing awesome and a wonderful example of how the administration has embraced change and social tools to: a) broadcast their activities at a low cost, b) share with a community, c) challenge the rules and roles of traditional White House media coverage and d) allow groups to assemble to discuss like minded interests.
