Do you make the numbers pop up in a box when you click a region? Do they show up on hover? How about creating an interface to select multiple regions so that they may compare the figures? The possibilities are endless! Woo!
Eff that. It’s hard enough for a reader to learn how to pan and zoom your map in a box, let alone understand your legend and coloring scheme, and now you’re going to hit them with a bespoke clicky-hover UI? Nothing good can come of this.
