Well, now, this is gorgeous. Stamen Design overlaid watercolor textures on OpenStreetMap map tiles to show you what it would look like if your favorite watercolorist designed Google Maps. It's fun to scroll and scroll.

Just choose a country and a way to create your map by color, type values or by uploading your excel files (you can even use your zip / postal code column to get the best and most accurate maps!)

Google Maps do not display latitude and longitude values, but there is an easy trick to get these numbers. This technique will provide the latitude and longitude coordinates of the center of the map displayed by Google Maps.

Serendipitor is an alternative navigation app for the iPhone that helps you find something by looking for something else. The app combines directions generated by a routing service (in this case, the Google Maps API) with instructions for action and movement inspired by Fluxus, Vito Acconci, and Yoko Ono, among others.

Why wayfinding - helping people through unfamiliar environments - is so important.

London is famously difficult to navigate around. It lacks an 'organising principle', for instance the naming/numbering of streets popular in the US. Legible London is a new urban wayfaring system that intends to better guide visitors (and residents) around the city, as well as shifting more commuters out of the tube system and onto the streets.
