That's just "crazy" talk. Their bootstraps made them do it.
This morning, I wrote about the firebombing of a pro-choice State Senator's office, and—wouldn't you know it?—the man who has been arrested for the incident is, we are informed, a homeless man who is "crazy," just like the man who firebombed a clinic in Florida, and just like the man who was arrested for threatening to kill Rep. Jim McDermott, and just like the man who tried to kill Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and just like the man who attempted to bomb a Martin Luther King Day parade, and just like the man who killed Dr. George Tiller, and on and on and on until I want to fucking puke.

Each and every one of them are individually and independently "crazy" and their actions exist in a void and there's nothing to see here, move along. Their bootstraps made them do it.

A doctor comments on transvaginal ultrasounds
I do not feel that it is reactionary or even inaccurate to describe an unwanted, non-indicated transvaginal ultrasound as “rape”. If I insert ANY object into ANY orifice without informed consent, it is rape. And coercion of any kind negates consent, informed or otherwise.

The Fat Nutrionist - Denial of Life
I have discovered, through questioning the lovely people I work with, that at the bottom of every fear of eating too much, or of gaining too much weight, resides the fear of death. In the final analysis, it always comes down to this — the awareness that we have to die, someday, and that anything we do might hasten the inevitable.

BiSearch: Primer Design and Search Tool
BiSearch is a primer-design algorithm for DNA sequences. It may be used for both bisulfite converted as well as for original not modified sequences. You can search various genomes with the designed primers to avoid non-specific PCR products by our fast ePCR method. This is especially recommended when primers are designed to amplify the highly redundant bisulfite treated sequences.

Sweat Science
used to be at: http://sweatscience.com/

Sweat Science is about the science of exercise, fitness and training. What do researchers know about the best way to warm up, lose weight, or train for a triathlon? What remains unknown? We break down the latest research, discuss it and argue about it. We debunk common workout myths, and attack the shoddy science used to sell many fitness products. We demand evidence.

Tebow's Religion: Fair Game
Before he ever took a snap in the NFL, he appeared in an anti-choice television ad with his mother that was sponsored by Focus on the Family, an influential anti-choice, anti-gay-rights organization founded by the Rev. James Dobson. He knew what he was doing... It has been argued paradoxically that his faith is both vital to his success and off-limits to criticism. This is, of course, nonsense. He put his business in the street that way, and he did so by allying himself with the softer side of a movement that contains other organizations that the Southern Poverty Law Center, which knows about this stuff, recently designated as hate groups.

Siri: Total Misogynist
I doubt many people seriously believe that the programmers behind Siri are out to get women. The problem is that the very real and frequent concerns of women simply didn’t rise to the level of a priority for the programmers. Even though far more women will seek abortion in their lives than men will seek prostitutes, even though more women use contraception than men use Viagra, and even though exponentially more women use contraception than men seek prostitutes, the programmers were far more worried about making sure the word “horny” puts you in contact with a prostitute (a still-illegal activity) than the word “abortion” puts you in contact with someone who could do that for you legally.

Keep it Up, David
I live in Los Angeles, and I'm 32 years old. In January 2010, I began eating better and exercising more, so I could lose weight. So far, so good - I've lost 168 pounds! But now that it's getting tougher, and the weight is coming off more slowly, I need to find new ways to keep motivated and on-track.

The Penn State Scandal: Connect the Dots Between Child Abuse and The Sexual Assault of Women on Campus
by Claire Potter. "Penn State’s cover-up is embedded in the interest it, and all universities, have in keeping many forms of sexual violence and sexual harassment a private, internal matter." Every time one of these things happens, what it exposes is the way social power is expressed through sexual power, and it requires a feminist response. Let’s move this from the sports page to our classrooms and start connecting the dots.

Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry of Cancer Program at the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry of Cancer Program involves the study and manipulation of the complex nucleic acids that comprise genetic material, and how those molecules relate to the understanding of critical cellular components. It is home to three peer review committees: DNA Mechanisms in Cancer (DMC), RNA Mechanisms in Cancer (RMC), and Tumor Biochemistry and Endocrinology (TBE)...TBE handles the altered biochemistry of cancer cells and signal transduction mechanisms, alterations of which are the hallmark of many forms of cancer.

The Professor is In
I am here to help. I am Karen L. Kelsky, Ph.D.. I am “The Professor.” I spent 15 years as a R1 tenured professor, department head, and university advisor, and I tell you the truth. The truth about grad school. The truth about funding. The truth about the job market. And the truth about tenure. I also tell you the truth about your writing, your applications, your job chances, and your tenure case. If they suck, I will tell you. And then we will get a plan to improve them.
