“You don't have a Dr. McKay?” he demanded, trying to keep his voice steady and trying not to imagine any one of the terrible things that must have happened for him to not be here.  Radek gave him a curious look. “No, we do. But who are you?”

This is not exactly what Jim thought the 'exploring strange new worlds and exotic civilizations' was about. Also, Vulcans are kind of crazy. Jim and Spock go through a alien ritual, which, yes, changes everything -- he's hoping for the better. Spock just wants to get through this with his sanity, if not his dignity, mostly intact.

"I've got a plan," Merlin says, and Arthur groans. "Oy, there's no need to be like that," Merlin says, as though Arthur doesn't have the perfect right to groan at the thought of Merlin having a plan. Bad things happen when Merlin has plans or ideas. Or actually, when Merlin is anywhere around.

In retrospect, going collecting herbs and other assorted plants in one of the more isolated parts of the forest with only Gwen for company was a bad idea. Going on to investigate an even darker hollow without Gwen was an even worse idea, but as Arthur constantly reminds him, Merlin frequently forgets to make the distinction between good and bad ideas.

He took quick stock of the situation, and allowed a moment of mourning for the times in his life when being in women's clothing wasn't the least of his worries.

There were rules about Vulcan biology and scaring the hell out of Jim now. This had to be in violation of at least three of them.

There was something devastatingly cute about the mix of wide brown eyes, pale skin, pointed ears, and neat hair cut when packaged in a body barely over three feet tall and swimming in a blue science uniform top and dark undershirt that was entirely too big for his body.

He's not married to the identity—never really has been, but when the Cold War heats up and Arthur is nowhere to be found, Merlin says, fuck it. She joins MI-5. Is 00 before any other woman before, and picks the code name M.

Arthur wanted to know what was going on in Merlin's head. He just didn't mean it so literally.

She'd then had the appalling sense of humor to use her fantastic, extremely-useful-for-warfare mutation of molecular transfiguration to turn Erik into a brown and white-spotted kitten.

The aliens were very sorry for nearly killing Captain Kirk, and wanted to fix things.
