Draco owns a café in the city. Harry's a MP who comes in every morning, newspapers in one hand, BlackBerry in the other, and orders a triple espresso macchiato.

Arthur's a corporate lawyer, Eames owns the coffee shop across the street, and all good love stories start with a quadruple shot latte.

"I should hit on a man who comes in every morning at seven a.m. in a five thousand dollar suit, says the exact same eleven words - and I've memorised them, by the way: the usual please, yes that'll be all, thank you very much. Looks directly at the person manning the checkout when he does it and does not manage to smile a single time, even when it's Angel. Rushes out as soon as he gets his drink. That's the person you want me to ask out."

An alternate universe (they're all not mutants, just human) where Charles is a social worker who fosters troubled kids, and one day he meets Erik, an ex-druggie/ex-convict (or whatever else, I leave it to anon to figure out which demons are chasing him) who reluctantly agrees to stay for only a while, but ends up staying for good and helping Charles to raise the kids. Awkward parenting ensues.

In which Arthur finds all of Merlin's tattoos, Gaius and Morgana have supporting roles, Will annoys Arthur, and Lancelot makes a cameo (shirtless!). There are also cats.

"I can’t tattoo you when you’re drunk. Or intoxicated. I like my job too much. If you really want one, come back when you sober up."

Arthur is a bored, high-profile executive; Merlin runs a company which offers 'executive abductions' for charge. Arthur hires Merlin to kidnap him, and once the job is over, he can't keep away.

Modern AU. Merlin is a computer tech, Arthur is a closeted corporate type with a big ole' gay porn stash. Much staring at hands, awkwardness and eventual sex ensues.

Getting married wasn't supposed to change anything.

When Mal leans into his office and asks Eames what he did to his back, he can't exactly say, "the new graphics intern," so he says, "Oh, just stress, love."

French toast, pancakes, steak and eggs -- I could make you anything in the world, pet, but no. Egg-white omelette, morning after morning. It shows a distinct lack of imagination.

"I actually don't even know your name," Merlin replied.

They stared at each other solemnly for a second, and burst out laughing. Arthur couldn't stop, and kept thinking of all the silly angst and stupidity he had gone through during the past week, and all that time Merlin hadn't even known his name. He laughed and laughed and every time Merlin looked at him they started afresh.

"Oh shit, I'm so glad you're not offended, I was going to be so sneaky and try to figure it out some other way, but it kept not happening and then it was too late for me to ask," Merlin said, wiping his eyes. "I was going to steal your wallet--"

"I will not go insane if I’m not married by 35, Jeannie! Uncle Walter got addicted to opium in Thailand, and that was sixty years ago. Has anyone else gone insane since then?"

"If I win my next case - whichever case that may be, I suppose - then I'll be an associate at Drake and Associates, LLC as soon as the judge brings his gavel down in my favor."
