according to my data, del.icio.us had ~390k actively-/publicly-bookmarking users in 2010-11 (down from ~450k in 2009-11). half a million contributing (!) users/month for a site w/ 0 marketing and tons of disallows in robots.txt ... I fail to see the fail.

the usual superficial. the del.icio.us frontpage has been close-to-useless before (at least the "10 million fscking wordpress templates" links are gone for good; yay for the awesome powers of twitter). amazingly, about everyone (most del.icio.us users included) keeps overlooking or ignoring /network, the one social filter that actually kind of works.
