State of the Art - With a Private MiFi Hot Spot, Be Online Wherever You Like - NYTimes.com
"But imagine if you could get online anywhere you liked — in a taxi, on the beach, in a hotel with disgustingly overpriced Wi-Fi — without messing around with cellular modems. What if you had a personal Wi-Fi bubble, a private hot spot, that followed you everywhere you go?"

Ada Lovelace Day — Bringing women in technology to the fore
"If women need female role models, let’s come together to highlight the women in technology that we look up to. Let’s create new role models and make sure that whenever the question “Who are the leading women in tech?” is asked, that we all have a list of candidates on the tips of our tongues.

Browse the Artifacts of Geek History in Jay Walker's Library
Drool. Forget your fancy home cinemas, if I had millions of pounds to spend, I'd build a library just like this, assuming that I had a home bigger than this library, which I currently don't.

Transporter® & Squeezebox™ Wireless Network Music Players - Every room deserves a soundtrack
Very tempted by this. I've got an old Slimdevices SliMP3, which I adore, but this would be very neat in the bedroom to replace an ancient CD minisystem (with terrible audio quality).

Dyson Vacuums: A Video History of Dyson Upright Vacuums
"...caught this video of an incredibly soporific employee...." Great video, but Gizmodo, just because this guy isn't shouting or going "Rah! Rah Dyson!", it doesn't make him soporific. This is how we speak in Britain ;-)

Modded Recumbent Bikes Rip Through NASA Ames
Nice array of recumbent bikes and trikes. If I rode one, I'd feel obliged to say "Ex-NASA, you know" in Wallace's voice to anyone passing.

PigeonBlog
A very cool mixture of technology and organic control: using pigeons equipped with GPS-enabled air pollution monitors to map air quality. Their flights are overlaid on a Google Map, with the readings for carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides provided for each leg of the flight.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Andy Ihnatko :: Avoid the loony Zune
Amusing and almost totally negative review for the Zune. An antidote to all those clueless newspaper reviewers talking about it as an 'iPod killer'.

Cracked it! | Special reports | Guardian Unlimited
"So they are using strong cryptography to prevent conversations between the passport and the reader being eavesdropped, but they are then breaking one of the fundamental principles of encryption by using non-secret information actually published in the passport to create a 'secret key'. That is the equivalent of installing a solid steel front door to your house and then putting the key under the mat.""

Wired News: Inventor Rejoices as TVs Go Dark
If only the TVs infesting Central Trains had a remote sensor, I'd buy one of these like a shot.

TomTom Go
Nice looking in-car GPS navigation system that doesn't require any installation. Expensive though.
