Marked: MultiMarkdown preview, everywhere
This is a great new application which does one thing very beautifully: it previews a dropped markdown file, and updates when the file is saved. You can have the window open next to your editor window, and get a Markdown preview plus word/character/line count for free, with any editor.

One to squirrel away for July: how to burn a Lion boot disc using the App Store download. There are times when I'm travelling and don't have internet access that being able to reinstall from a DVD or USB stick would be vital.

Terminally Geeky: use automatic login more securely
Set up your Mac to login automatically, but also immediately start the login window: the result is that your applications start up and update in the background, but you are not leaving your machine open to any one who does not know your password. Seems like a decent compromise.

Iconfactory : Home : Filing a Flight Plan
Interesting insight into Iconfactory's changing design process for Twitterrific. I think that the market for a good Mac client is still wide open, despite Twitter's acquisition of Atebits, so I'm glad to see that Iconfactory have concrete plans to redevelop Twiterrific for the Mac.

Justin Blanton | Create a simple timer using LaunchBar and AppleScript
This is brilliant. I often feel the need for a quick timer like this, but a standalone application feels like overkill. Not only does using a timer mean that you don't miss something because you get wrapped up in work, but it also means that you are free to get wrapped up in work without looking at your watch every two minutes, worrying that you'll forget to do something.

Very interesting app which provides custom 'Destinations' to perform handy tasks. It's nothing you couldn't do with an Applescript, but it's very slick and easy to use. Even better, it has a brilliant API with which you can create Destinations in Ruby. It's simple, but really powerful.
