This is Your Brain on Vim
This is funny, and fits well with my experience of Vim (though I'm an only an intermediate level user). It's true that Vim is a little bit addictive, and you keep finding yourself coming back to it.

Bread and Milk - Autoblography
Stuart is trying to learn Brazilian Portuguese and finding it hard. Very hard. I can totally sympathise, as my efforts have been even more lame. Whenever I try to pronounce a word, I cringe inwardly, imagining how mangled it sounds to the person listening. If you can't even really hear what a sound is supposed to be, it's very hard to reproduce it.

Hyperbole and a Half: Dog
A tale of a mentally challenged dog who doesn't know what to do with stairs, and apparently can't escape from a blanket. Hilarious, and the drawings are adorable.

SCIENCE SCOUTS
Science merit badges. Some of the stories that go along with the badges are hilarious, particularly the ones which involve blowing things up accidentally, or causing the building to be evacuated. I'm eligible for a few myself, but you'll have to guess which!

Rands In Repose: The Nerd Handbook
"Your nerd knows very little about a lot. For many topics, his knowledge is an inch deep and four miles wide." Frighteningly true of me.

Coconut crab picture on kottke.org
I've seen one of these in New Caledonia. My host caught it (VERY carefully), and put it in a steel saucepan with the lid held down with heavy bricks. It released itself over night. A crab to respect...

Wellington Grey -- Miscellanea -- The Truth About Wireless Devices
Brilliant satirical cartoon on the current anti-wifi hysteria. I think that "WiFi Routers: Silent, Blinking DEATH?" would make a fantastic t-shirt.

YouTube - Alanis Morissette "My Humps" video
Absurdly compelling version of 'My Humps' (Black Eyed Peas) by Alanis Morissette. I don't know whether to laugh or cry, but either way, it's a work of genius. [Via the pool of radiance]

defective yeti: Moby-Dick, Chapters 41-44
Great series on reading Moby Dick. A bookmark shows that I gave up on p. 121 when I tried reading it years ago. And I'm actually interested in whales!

Kittie vs Frontrow, Round 1
I've watched this video so many times because it's so cute. The owner must be pretty brave to let those sharp claw and teeth loose on his lovely shiny MacBook.

Using 3x5 index cards as a PIM. "Disadvantages: Won't play MP3s or OggVorbis files. Workaround: whistle or hum. Ever try to whistle or hum detroit techno? Don't listen to techno. Do interpretative dance."
