Wytze van Mansum - Industrial Design Engineering
The Cannondale Dutchess: a concept bike based on an updating of the classic Omafiets Dutch bicycle. I hope this goes into production as it looks as if it would be a terrific commuting bike.

Baseline - a designer framework by ProjetUrbain.com
Looks like an interesting project. I'm all for these kinds of framework kits to make designing web pages easier for those of us who are artistically-challenged.

Advice on designing scientific posters
"And it gets worse: meeting organizers will invariably sandwich your poster between two posters that are infinitely more entertaining, such as "Teaching house cats to perform cold fusion" and "Mating preferences in extraordinarily adorable red pandas." In such a situation, your poster must be interesting and visually slick if you hope to attract viewers."

Postage - Send postcards from your iPhone
"Postage for the iPhone allows you to easily create beautiful electronic postcards from your photos and send them by email to your friends and family." This looks gorgeous. I've mourned the loss of the .Mac (now MobileMe) e-cards, so this looks like a great replacement.

Light Lane - Concept from Altitude’s Alex Tee and Evan Gant
This is a completely brilliant idea, and I want one now: a bike mounted, ground-firing laser to 'paint' a bike lane in light either side of a cyclist which moves with them. Did I mention it had a laser?

Colorful Bokeh Effect in Pixelmator | Abduzeedo
Nice to see a tutorial using Pixelmator rather than Photoshop. This gives a very nice effect. I've always wondered how to use the Quartz Composer generators.

Apple - MacBook - Design, pg. 2
"Take the thumbscoop, for example. It’s the indentation that allows you to open the display. If the scoop is too deep, you put too much pressure on the display to open it. If it’s too shallow, you struggle to open the display. It may seem incidental, but if the thumbscoop is well designed, it makes the difference between a bad experience and a good one. The challenge of the thumbscoop was to create a crisply machined scoop that was still comfortable to use. The designers at Apple worked on hundreds of versions of the thumbscoop — even examining them under an electron microscope — to get it right."

Stuff I love: Muji Chronotebook — jackcheng.com
A great, simple idea: forget about the grids of traditional diaries or day planners and have a blank page with an analogue clock outline in the centre, on which you can mark off your appointments. Then the rest of the page is free to do whatever you want with. It acknowledges the fact that the stuff we do tends not to be evenly distributed over the day.

Browse the Artifacts of Geek History in Jay Walker's Library
Drool. Forget your fancy home cinemas, if I had millions of pounds to spend, I'd build a library just like this, assuming that I had a home bigger than this library, which I currently don't.

I love this desk. Very industrial, but gorgeous. The semi-hidden, ventilated shelf underneath for drives, cables and other clutter is ingenious.

Switchbike - I Want One | Fresh Creation
Nice idea: a bike that switches from upright to recumbent on the turn of a handle. Not sure how it would feel to ride, but it seems like it might be the best of both worlds.

Anil Dash: Pixels Are The New Pies
Interesting sightings of pixel or block based infographics which are substitutes for pie charts. I don't think I've seen any of these in UK media yet. I'm no fan of pie charts, but I'm not sure these are a great improvement.
