A 49 minute long documentary about lettercutting, in both monumental inscriptions and on gravestones. Film-makers Frank Muhly Jr. and Peter O'Neill followed carvers from the John Stevens Shop in Newport, Rhode Island over a period of two years.

"The Type and Media masters program has a long history at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague. Currently, the ten-month course is divided into two distinct parts, and limited to eleven students a year. The first five months comprise eight different weekly classes that expose students to numerous fundamental aspects of the type design process. The second half of the course is focused mainly on the development of individual final projects."

The gentleman that is Tim Brown (who was kind enough to invite me on to Dribbble) recently posted on A List Apart about his 'Web Font Specimen' resource. WFS allows for designers to see how typefaces imported via @font-face render in web-browsers.

With LAIKA, there is finally a font that can seamlessly use the whole spectrum of its cuts. A font that is able to move between its extremes in real time.
