A polaroid photo viewer | Marcofolio.net
Uses CSS3 and jQuery. Might be nice to hook it up to Flickr sets somehow.

CSS Animation | Surfin' Safari
"the WebKit on iPhone 2.0 already supports CSS Animations (as well as CSS Transforms and CSS Transitions). The iPhone implementation has been optimized for the platform so you get fantastic performance"

rentzsch's clicktoflash at master | GitHub
ClickToFlash is a plugin (not an input manager) that stops Flash loading until the user approves it in Safari (and other WebKit browsers). It started life on code.google.com but that's now 403ing; this has some nice patches (such as option-click to whitelist), and I trust the repository owner. Well worth installing.

To WebKit or not to WebKit within your iPhone app? | Dr Nic
"on the iPhone there is this nifty object called UIWebView. Otherwise known as WebKit. Otherwise known as an embedded browser in your iPhone app." "First: the downsides... it's slow.... it's slow." "Now I realise that, technically speaking, that's only one flaw but I thought it was such a big one it was worth mentioning twice."

Bridging the iPhone GAP | PhoneGap
"PhoneGap is a free open source development tool and framework that allows web developers to take advantage of the powerful features in the iPhone SDK from HTML and JavaScript. We're trying to make iPhone app development easy and open."

iPhone local web applications | jerakeen.org
"I do, however, want to write local apps in a language that’s a little higher-level than Objective-C. It’s nice and all, but I prefer things to be more flexible."

A Social Browser for Mac OS X Leopard | Cruz
It's only 0.1, so it's more promise than execution at the moment, and I don't think I "get" BrowsaBowsa. Still, it doesn't need me to log in to everything afresh, it supports userscripts (somewhat), and so I'll try and keep an eye on it.

Web Inspector Redesign | Surfin’ Safari
The Safari built-in equivalent to Firebug gets more tweaks. The editable style rules, metrics and properties look good, as does the ability to search by CSS selectors. Looking forward to an official Safari 4 release (or indeed a new ADC beta). (It'd be nice to see in Chrome too...)

Further WebKit vs Gecko Thoughts | blech.vox.com
Speaking of defecting from Gecko, here's some thoughts I tried to get down in April on the subject. I'm not very happy with the writing but I stand by the idea- that WebKit will succeed in the long term because it's easier to embed and hack upon.

comic book - Page 12 | Google on Google Chrome
The comic book that Google is apparently using to introduce its browser (or is it a runtime environment?) spends a couple of pages, starting here, talking about why they chose WebKit. The whole thing seems to be worth reading, especially the bits about pervasive multithreading early on.

Apple Made A Mistake | Brighthand
"Apple, with its own browser, Safari, and a fresh mobile platform, had the opportunity to really change the game when it came to making web applications. ... The company chose instead to listen to developers."

Announcing SquirrelFish | Surfin’ Safari
I saw the checkin from branch to trunk announced somewhere a week or so ago, but it's nice to have a formal announcement - Apple's WebKit has a new JavaScript core, and it's a fast, register-based VM. Should do well.

Mozilla blasts Acid3 | Ed Burnette’s Dev Connection
Quotes from Mozilla bloggers on Acid3, WebKit and Opera. Like Eric Meyer, Burnette notices a certain similarity between Mozilla's Acid3 comments and those of the IE team to Acid2.

About the Safari 3.1 Update | Apple
I was half-expecting this lot to have to wait for 10.6, but apparently not; perhaps Safari's new life as a dual-platform app has led to lots of releases. Fun toys, including a Developer menu and local storage (using the HTML5 API).

Fluid - Free Site Specific Browser | Ditchnet
A bit like Mozilla's Prism, but based on Webkit. It's also more of a site-specific browser generator than a browser itself. Still, interesting. 10.5 only; I'm not surprised by that, even this soon.

Web Inspector Update | Surfin’ Safari
Every time they update this it gets better. CSS editing and SQLite local database inspection? Yes please. It's now getting to the point where a comparison with Firebug has both with missing features.

David Emery Online: Animate & Transform
Turns out there's even more interesting stuff showing up in WebKit. I just hope it gets released before 10.6. Meanwhile, David Emery's blog has some interesting use of images for indexing.

Yet another one more thing… a new Web Inspector!
This looks a lot more like Firebug (functionally), iTunes (sidebar-wise) and a lot less like a HUD (graphically). Now, what happens when you install Safari 3 + nightlies? And what's this noise about the loss of View Source?
