Interesting tool: it'll take any JSON and convert it to a report (including making a nice sortable table for a list). You can try it out online, too: http://ajaxstack.com/jsonreport/

Convert and Download Videos to iTunes | Evom

Flash CS5 will export to HTML5 Canvas | 9 to 5 Mac

Hone | Twitter RSS Links
august 2009 by blech
"Twitter RSS Links allows you to generate a (RSS|ATOM|JSON|XML) feed from your friend's tweets that contains HTTP links." Does what it says, with OAuth (so it works for private folks). I really should do a delicious-network style un-shortening UI on top of the JSON, mind you.

Twitter friends' favorites feeds as OPML | 0xDECAFBAD
may 2009 by blech
This isn't exactly terribly friendly, but until Twitter do something to expose favourites more visibly or someone writes a nice GUI app (hard, because it requires n*following calls), this'll do for me. (I imported it into Google Reader, which I don't use otherwise.) Source on Github, naturally.

"We’re building streams of photos in real time. Examining the huge stream of data events that happen on Flickr, the social activity, the searching, the meta-data creation, and fishing from that stream to build 3 real time streams. "C implementation based on F/OSS code; Proof of Concept multi-OS client with curses (text-based) UI; Proof of Concept gateway to the Spotify service (text-based protocol, for supporting REST)" It compiles cleanly on Mac OS X and the gateway looks handy for exposing playlists (and lists of what's available) to people who haven't signed up.

JSON in Firefox | τεχνοσοφια

"JSONovich is a Firefox extension that pretty-prints and colorizes JSON content (of types application/json and text/x-json). advice to a new journalist: learn to code | Charles Arthur
january 2009 by blech
"You’d be able to knock up something like the Guardian BNP map without a second thought." I'd argue that you don't necessarily need to be able to code, but you do need to be able to use good tools; Excel and DabbleDB spring to mind (but aren't mentioned in the comments). (Note megp asking for Dopplr CSV exports so she can do her own visualisations.) Still, interesting thoughts.
