A Fantasy Transit Map for San Francisco | The Atlantic Cities
"SPUR asked Stokle to draw two transit maps for them (full disclosure—I edit SPUR’s monthly magazine, The Urbanist), with the intent of demonstrating how a single, unified transit map might provide greater accessibility and ease of use and to stimulate conversation about how transit decisions are made." The maps are interesting but I think flawed. More later, perhaps.

'Walker Evans' review: Photographic eye on America | SFGate
'"Walker Evans," the exhibition at Stanford's Cantor Center showcasing the photographer-artist who plumbed the poetics of documentary, makes this point only inadvertently. Consisting of vintage prints and related Walker ephemera from the collection of Elizabeth and Robert Fisher, it succeeds at least in making us wish for a refreshed view of Evans' work, even if that continues to elude us.' Stanford, closes 8 April, 2012.

A Bridge Built to Sway When the Earth Shakes | NYTimes.com
"Venture deep inside the new skyway of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, and it becomes clear that the bridge’s engineers have planned for the long term." A good read, and it's worth going to the interactive feature part too.

UC Planners Envision “Bay Line” Park | Streetsblog San Francisco
Speaking of the High Line, this proposal for a new urban area on the Bay Bridge is somewhat interesting, very Gibsonian, but utterly impractical. Still, that's kind of the Bay Area all over.
