Update Twitter with a HTTP Post | Machine Tweets
Looks like a useful service if you want to shortcut authentication (although Twitter already make it fairly easily by having a page that shows you an auth token for your account only). I wonder how well (or indeed if) it reports errors usefully, but even so, worth a go, perhaps.

Google App Scripts | Google
"Welcome to Google Apps Script: an easy way to automate simple tasks across Google Products." "use standard JavaScript; use Google's online Web Script Editor or your favorite Desktop development tool; Execution and hosting of scripts on the Google cloud" Interesting. (Confusing naming, perhaps?)

Warcraft guild achievements as RSS | jerakeen.org
Tom Insam writes up, in amusing fashion, how he scrapes the World of Warcraft site to extract the achievements of his guild into an RSS feed. For example: "they return an XML document with an XSL stylesheet referenced in the header that transforms the XML into a web page. Why are they doing this? It must be a huge amount of work compared to just serving HTML, I don’t get it. Let’s ignore that."

Mozilla Labs: Ubiquity | Daring Fireball Linked List
Gruber is sceptical about Ubiquity: "Quicksilver (or Enso) but only for the web", "The more ambitious examples (which don’t work yet), make me think it’s trying to do what AppleScript tried but failed to do. "

osx-trash | Dave Dribin
"osx-trash manipulates the Mac OS X trash from the command line, just like the Finder does." One to remember to install, and then to remember to use.

The professionalization of scripting languages | Joe Gregorio
"you won't be able get traction with [a language implementation] unless it does direct threading, is register based, has generational GC, does peephole optimizations, does trace-folding, does type-inferenced inline caching, etc"

Run Python Script | toxicsoftware.com
An Automator action to allow you to run a Python script. Worth a look at some point, although I tend to just use AppleScript or another OSA method rather than Automator, which has a nasty habit of getting in my way.

Server Side JavaScript and the Universal Scripting Language
Russell Beattie seems to want, er, Zimki. Of course, nobody knew about it even before it was doomed. Sigh.

al3x.net: C4[1]: Tim Burks on "Bridges and Beyond"
Alex Payne has a series of notes from the indie Mac developer's conference this weekend. If he had a tag I'd link to that, but this is perhaps the most me of all the posts.

Apple - Mac OS X Leopard - Technology - UNIX
If Apple was serious about JavaScript, wouldn't there be an implementation of Scripting Bridge? (with apologies to Tom, who mentioned the idea on #2lmc) (and I really should check out Drosera)

MacDevCenter.com -- Replacing AppleScript with Ruby
Good article by Matt Neuberg, noting that OSA is still important but that Ruby's probably a better fit for scripting these days. Make sure you don't throw out the first item of type baby with the first item of water of container bath.
