I should probably have made this a proper blog post, or fixed comments on husk.org/blog, but: I noted the way cropping works with the Pen (the sensor is 4:3; you can use 3:2 or 16:9, and then JPGs are cropped, while RAW gets embedded cropping metadata). I also found the pictures to be have good saturation and contrast compared to my Canon, but obviously opinions differ.

delicious have quietly changed the log in system to allow you to stay logged in indefinitely, as opposed to the two weeks they were enforcing between the relaunch and, well, today. Given it's the biggest lingering complaint I've heard since the relaunch, this should make people happy. Not sure I like this being announced on Twitter not the blog, mind.

An interesting, and probably largely correct, list of gripes about Tumblr. I suspect I don't find the problems as annoying as Samuel does because I'm not using the site as a does-everything place, any more than I do the same on Facebook.

I finally revived the scripts, an embarrassingly long time after a server move. (Lack of SMS did provide something of a disincentive...)

The most amazing thing to me about this post isn't the problem it describes, since I've never been a fan of the blosxom model. It's the fact people are still using file-based blogging systems at all. Mind you, they probably are all Unix geeks.

Tom talks about why the spool was finally killed and what happens next (it gets flatfiled and we leave 2lmc's site to its main purpose, namely being rude about mobile phones).

Thirty seven months after we moved out of 2lmc, the spool gets declared dead. Read my stuff instead! Sure, there's less of it and there's less bile, but... er... oh well.

AboveLondon gets mentioned on Astronomy Blog, which is nice. Yes, it would be better if it was more personalised. Unfortunately that means messing with d messages or, worse, a real SMS gateway.

I'm having a real crisis with my photography at the moment. This doesn't really help, but it does outline vaguely what the problem is.

I instinctively felt that "pottering" - reading blogs but not producing stuff - was bad. This says why. The comments - why is a novel good? comics are already bitesized - are interesting.

RSS feeds get overhauled, ICHC gets referenced, and your newsreader gets a bunch of stuff marked as unread. Apparently. haddock.org's gained cruft, certainly.

The linklog bot from #london.pm now feeds twitter, after a year or two of downtime. It's like it's the new IRC or something.

Hosted WordPress weblogs now have Snap preview floating windows on outgoing links, and they're bloody irritating. They're really offputting on otherwise clean Kubrick sites. Terrible.
