London Undersound & Oyster Challenge | Dan W
"The data is imported from Oyster via a greasemonkey script that runs when you log into your online TFL account." Which is great, except that Oyster card holders who don't use auto-top-up pre-pay get "Journey history displays records for journeys taken using pay as you go credit." when they look at the Oyster pages. Still, nice hacks for those who do have data.

Search (properties?) for square pics? | Flickr Hacks
I've always wanted to tag my images with their aspect ratio. Maybe the fact someone else also wants it means I'll bother.

Star location service | kottke.org
"If you submit your astronomy photo to the Astrometry group on Flickr, a tool of the same name will look at the image, tell you the location of the field of view, and label all of the celestial objects contained within it." "Your assignment: use the Astrometry and Exif data to stitch all these photos together into a huge Hockney-esque map of the sky."

Lift the download quarantine | The Pug Automatic
A nice little AppleScript folder action which calls xattr to remove that annoying "You've downloaded this, is it safe?" dialog. Trades security for convenience, of course, but if you want it, here it is. (I do.)

Make Help Viewer windows non-floating | macosxhints
Oh please let this work. Includes a plist change, so you might need to repeat that after an update, but then that's only to show the icon in the Dock and task switcher.

Powerbook to Desktop | MacMod.com
A nice recasing of a titanium PowerBook with a broken screen for use as a desktop. Doing this with my aluminium G4 is less pointful - the screen still works - and less easy - the ports are on both sides, not the back. Interesting though.

building a relational database using jQuery | nick
This is, er, something. Using jQuery and an HTML table to write something that works basically the same as SQL. Clientside.

Stream Music from your iPhone to iTunes | TUAW
Backwards (it's more useful to be able to listen to music with the iPod, rather than having it as a server, surely?) but still somewhat nifty. Of course UIs are hard, and reading iTunes 7+ DAAP is still impossible.

Jello Molds & Width Control
Min-width and max-width hacks for IE, using negative margins and JavaScript. Not sure I need this, but I think it's worth storing for reference.

"Splatter is a small Perl application that allows you to simultaneously update accounts on Twitter and LiveJournal." A hack, and not useful to me, but I thought I'd give it some link love.

Backlight Visualizer for iTunes on Mac OS X
Not sure if this'll work on my PowerBook (there seem to be lots of different interfaces) but it's, um, interesting anyway.
