"Convert your movies and download flash videos from the internet." Earlier this year I had a huge pile of unwatched video URLs which would have been great to have on the iPhone, Instapaper-style. Luckily, it seems as if waiting long enough is enough to make products happen.

An unofficial app that takes Phil Gyford's Today's Guardian experience and makes it more iPad-ish. Interesting partly for the transposition of ideas, and also partly as a possible proof that native apps still work better than web apps (although would that be less pronounced with equal time spent on both?)

A review of AddLib, with some examples. Looks interesting.

I'm currently battling with iMovie to process some videos, and it's not fun. This non-free (but reasonably cheap) app looks promising, although I haven't tried it yet. In particular, it sets "date taken" on Flickr when it uploads a video; unlike photos, there's not a metadata standard for videos with the ubiquity of EXIF, so using the file's metadata is definitely a Good Thing.

Ah, handy. I've been having trouble with the PC map loader; maybe this will be happier. (Edit: it wasn't. Maybe the N73 isn't supported any more?)

It's an A-Z, on an iPhone (or iPod touch). Handy especially for the latter (where you can't rely on a data connection), and of course it's far more detailed than the Google map tiles. On the other hand, £6 would buy you a paper copy: £4.80 (or whatever nearest App Store increment is) would be far more reasonable.

Like Apple's Remote for iTunes, but for Keynote. Not that I've tried it, of course. Still, could be handy, although it might take a bit of faffy ad-hoc wireless configuration.

Yet another web site wrapped in an iPhone application. Oddly, it's not available in the UK, despite being presented on the UK YouTube site by a British person.

A bunch of Bonjour services to enable offline group development. It's all pretty cool, but not much use if you have Internet access and don't have a lot of local developers. Also, *jour looks a bit like Flame.

Paste in UTF-8, get out various escaped forms. For when I don't have Unicode Checker handy.

The first desktop Flickr app I've used that manages to be responsive to the user. I'm not sure how it's doing it, but it's certainly fast. I suspect that the techniques aren't Air-specific. Interesting but not revolutionary UI. Worth watching.

Skyhook-based location mapping for Firefox and IE across Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. If you want to see what the iPod touch maps can do, try this (although I haven't; no wireless at work.)

A little web app I built using Zimki, mainly to get out of my Perl rut. It was an interesting experience, but I think it finally gelled tonight. Bug reports and enhancement suggestions welcome.
