In partnership with Dr. Ewa Balicka-Witakowska of Uppsala University and Dr. Michael Gervers of the University of Toronto, HMML sponsored the digitization of two important collections of Ethiopian manuscripts in 2006-2007 at Gunda Gunde Monastery and Agwaxa Monastery, both in the Tigray Province of northern Ethiopia. Gunda Gunde has historically been a center for Stephanite monks, followers of the 15th century Abba Estifanos, whose strict interpretation of biblical Christianity brought great persecution to him and his followers. The Gunda Gunde collection of 219 manuscripts is of particular significance because it contains many pre-16th century biblical manuscripts of exceptional importance for the history of the Ethiopic Bible.

Ontology for the Sharing Ancient Wisdoms (SAWS) project, to represent the information and knowledge available in medieval gnomologia (collections of wise sayings). SAWS concentrates mainly on Ancient Greek and Arabic manuscripts containing wisdom literature. All class descriptions are provided by domain experts and the ontology has been developed through collaboration between these experts and ontology developers.

"Ambivalence about the Angelic Life: The Promise and Perils of an Early Christian Discourse of Asceticism" is published in the Winter 2008 (Volume 16, Number 4) edition of the journal.
