A Brief Rant on the Future of Interaction Design
So then. What is the Future Of Interaction?

The most important thing to realize about the future is that it's a choice. People choose which visions to pursue, people choose which research gets funded, people choose how they will spend their careers.

Despite how it appears to the culture at large, technology doesn't just happen. It doesn't emerge spontaneously, like mold on cheese. Revolutionary technology comes out of long research, and research is performed and funded by inspired people.

And this is my plea — be inspired by the untapped potential of human capabilities. Don't just extrapolate yesterday's technology and then cram people into it.

responsive-process
"Often, clients find it hard to grasp the concept of responsive design, indeed it makes my brain hurt some days. Instead of trying to explain the concept of responsive design, it may be more important to talk about sustainable design. Cennydd made the point that sustainability is something that most businesses already concern themselves with. A website which responds to context is far more sustainable than one which offers a non-optimal experience on the majority of devices and where the design only considers desktops and laptops."

Cadence & Slang
Cadence & Slang is a small book about interaction design: a series of rules that advocate simplicity, consistency, and humanity in technology. Funded by its readers and looking really good, Cadence & Slang is a great resource for aspiring designers in any branch of technology.

jQuery Masonry - Github
Masonry is a layout plugin for jQuery. Think of it as the flip side of CSS floats. Whereas floating arranges elements horizontally then vertically, Masonry arranges elements vertically then horizontally according to a grid. The result minimizes vertical gaps between elements of varying height, just like a mason fitting stones in a wall.
