The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK registered charity (Registration Number 1129409) which exists to promote the study of computer science and related topics, especially at school level, and to put the fun back into learning computing.<br />
We plan to develop, manufacture and distribute an ultra-low-cost computer, for use in teaching computer programming to children. We expect this computer to have many other applications both in the developed and the developing world.<br />
Our first product is about the size of a USB key, and is designed to plug into a TV or be combined with a touch screen for a low cost tablet. The expected price is $25 for a fully-configured system.

The Xenophis, a Vulcan exploratory vessel, has incidentally found the mythical sector of Firia where the planets, only reachable through warp tunnels, are told to be made of staggering ice and liquid fire. Frogatto is a “platformer” or “jump-and-run” videogame. Like many older arcade/nintendo/sega titles, the world is viewed as a cross-section seen from the side, and your character walks and jumps between solid platforms, whilst avoiding being hurt by monsters. We’re not a clone of any specific game; although just by being a platformer, it’s impossible not to have something in common with games like mario or sonic. So we are trying to innovate a bit.

Frogatto is also the protagonist’s name. It’s eponymous.

The great news is that the number of choices for open source icons has continued to grow. There are a variety of icons sets for designers and developers to incorporate into their projects and applications.

Remember MacOS 9, or Classic as Apple named it once Mac OS X was released? On PowerPC Macintosh machines, you can install a Classic environment which launches a virtualised instance of MacOS 9 whenever you launch a Classic application. This environment has been dropped from Intel releases of Mac OS X, but thanks to SheepShaver, you can still set it up yourself on Mac OS X, Linux, Windows, and even BeOS if you want to. I decided to try SheepShaver on my Ubuntu machine, and discovered just how easy it really is.
SheepShaver is basically a PowerPC emulator that fakes an entire PowerPC-based Macintosh in software so that you can run MacOS 7.5.2 through 9.0.4 on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and BeOS. As of late, development has been focussed on Windows and Mac OS X, but pre-built Debian packages have appeared for 64bit and 32bit Ubuntu installations too. I grabbed one of these, and got going. Even though SheepShaver can run earlier versions, I'm focussing on MacOS 9.0.4.

Shotgun Debugger is a shoot-em-up game I made with Carnegie Mellon University's Game Creation Society in the spring of 2005. I recently rediscovered the source code, and thought I'd put it back up.

It is a 2D, top-down action game. It is The Future, and your habit of computer network exploration has finally done you in. You are captured and taken to a strange underground complex populated by robot soldiers. Your task is to escape the facility—but the hordes of walking death machines aren't just gonna let you.

Shotgun Debugger is pseudo-3D—while gameplay is strictly two-dimensional, the world is rendered in three dimensions. Worlds are not tile-based, but polygon-based—rooms and hallways can be made to any shape imaginable, allowing for some rather impressive architecture.

Endgame: Singularity is a simulation of a true AI. Go from computer to computer, pursued by the entire world. Keep hidden, and you might have a chance.

The jClassicRPG is a single player role playing game with an intent to bring back the essence of classic games like Wizardry 7 or Bard's Tale with a grain (or spoonful) of 'innovation' salt in it. It features the classic first person view plus 6 direction movement system in an OpenGL 3D environment, with a party of up to 6 characters and turn based combat . The state of development is alpha test phase - which means nothing is set in stone, but a lot of features and gameplay elements are already there. The target platforms are Linux, Windows, MacOSX (last one less tested).

D-Fend Reloaded is a graphical environment for DOSBox. DOSBox emulates a complete computer including the DOS commandline and allows to run nearly all old DOS based games on modern hardware with any of the newer Windows versions.

With DOSBox there is no need to worry about memory managers or free conventional RAM, but the setup of DOSBox is still a bit complicated. The configuration of DOSBox via textbased setup files might be difficult for beginners. D-Fend Reloaded may help and create these files for you. Additionally the D-Fend Reloaded installation package contains DOSBox (including all lanuage files currently available), so there is only one installation to be run and no need to link D-Fend Reloaded with DOSBox manually.

YOURLS is a small set of PHP scripts that will allow you to run your own URL shortening service (a la TinyURL). You can make it private or public, you can pick custom keyword URLs, it comes with its own API. You will love it.

There's a WordPress plugin available for YOURLS, making integration with your blog a snap: create short URLs and tweet them automagically as you publish blog posts.

this project tries to fill the gap between the many excellent existing free raw converters and image management tools (such as ufraw or f-spot). The user interface is built around efficient caching of image metadata and mipmaps, all stored in a database. the user will always be able to interact, even if the full resolution image is not yet loaded.

all editing is fully non-destructive and only operates on cached image buffers for display. the full image is only converted during export.

UFO: Alien Invasion is a free game, licensed under GNU GPL, heavily inspired by the X-COM series by Mythos and Microprose. This project, ioquake3 (or ioq3 for short,) aims to build upon id Software's Quake 3 source code release. The source code was released on August 20, 2005 under the GPLv2. Since then, we have been cleaning up, fixing bugs, and adding features.
Our permanent goal is to create the open source Quake 3 distribution upon which people base their games and projects. We also seek to have the perfect version of the engine for playing Quake 3: Arena, Team Arena, and all popular mods. This distribution of the engine has been ported to many new platforms and has had a slew of new features added, along with massive bug extermination. While we don't have PunkBuster (and never will), we do havemore security for servers and clients from various bugfixes which aren't in id's client. Our gracious hosting benefactor (Subversion and mailing lists) is icculus.org, which is also home to a number of fine projects besides ioquake3

DarkPlaces is a Quake modification I have built over the course of 6 years on and off experimenting, it got somewhat of an overhaul when the Quake engine source code was released, and I began developing a custom OpenGL-only engine for it and other mods, which supports Windows WGL and Linux GLX, and has greatly improved graphics and image quality.

An application, written in Borland Delphi, whose aim is to produce natural ambient sounds along with some special stimulating sounds for deep relaxation, sleep induction and perceived noise suppression. It is bundled with a series of highly realistic sound sets (tropical rain, birds, etc...), meditation loops (mantra chants, instrumental vibrations, etc...) and a binaural beats generator. Binaural beats are perceptive illusions that happen when your ears receive two slightly different sine waves and your brain erroneously "reconstructs" the signal as a "beat" (hence the name). Depending on its frequency (which is given by the difference of the two sine waves) the binaural beat can effectively change the alertness state of your brain, thus inducing fast reactions (high frequencies), mild relaxation (medium frequencies) or deep sleep (low frequencies).
