Neverdaunt:8Bit - Load ,8,1
Neverdaunt is a dream like world of floating Islands and falling stars where nearly anything can happen. 8Bit refers to the era of computers with eight bit processors. N8* parodies the graphics style these computers were capable of and 8Bit also refers to N8* being a kind of Neverdaunt lite.
N8* is an online massively multiplayer virtual sandbox, A place to play, make friends, be creative and competitive.

The whole thing also happens to be the work of one guy (that's me, hello). Which isn't something that normally happens with an MMO, so I thought I would point that out. The reason I can make something like this by myself is the very nature and design of N8*... every player helps build the world and create gameplay!

My name in game is Aion, so if you see me, say hello.

Play This Thing! | Game Reviews | Free Games | Independent Games | Game Culture
Lucky Space is a tastefully and intelligently designed space colony builder on Facebook.

There are three things that are noteworthy about the game. First is the economy, which is nicely conceived, well-balanced, and remarkably complex but still messaged to the players in a way that, I think, does not exclude the more casual. Second is the manner in which the game treats FB wall-posts, which is original and encourages these (and the virality they spawn) in a far friendlier and more useful fashion than other FB games. And third is the music.

8bit killer - Locomalito
8bit killer is a first person shooter styled to resemble a NES game in look and feel

AD 2488. A long war has put human race on the edge of self-extinction. Four years ago, a space creature known as Master Brain arrived with the promise of a new dawn. Now, a huge army launched an attack to the few cities that are still on, following the plan of the creature. A small group of soldiers have formed an alliance to defend those cities and kill the master brain. This games tells the story of their final mission.

32x32 pixel textures, 64 color nes palette and 1bit sounds make this game look like an early 90s game. The soundtrack has been created by the genius RushJet1. The story, characters and scenes are inspired by films like Mad Max or 2013: Rescue in LA and by games like Contra, Megaman, Bionic Commando, Metroid, Catacomb 3D or the sequel Wolfenstein 3D, and many others...

DUST
Dust is the culmination of a year long endeavour to create traditional side scrolling game, and put a new twist on it. You play a moth. Not just any moth, a magical moth. Trapped in an old, dusty, and web infested attic; it is your goal to break free and find the ultimate source of light, the moon. Using its powers of resurrection, it is your task to wake its dead brethren and build a small army (or Marmy) forceful enough to break open the giant glass window. However, the moth draws its magic from light, and should it venture too long in the dark, it will be consumed. Its only hope is to light the entire attic, and collect every dead moth. Only then will it be free.

Super Crate Box
Vlambeer's SUPER CRATE BOX is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it's time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can. Prepare for an arcade delight with tight controls, refreshing game mechanics, cracking retro art and a terribly hip chiptune soundtrack.

Free Alien Breed Obliteration Download
As the excellent history provided with the game tells, Team17 (who made the Worms games) once made a creepy, atmospheric and quite difficult game called Alien Breed. The game was based on the film Aliens and this is an updated, but still authentic remake of that game.

The idea is that there are aliens attacking. You need to scour the corridors for items, such as keys and ammo, in order to make it to an elevator located on each level. The aliens will continue to breed off screen and come to attack you, so time is of the essence while also conserving your limited ammunition.

The graphics in this offering are very high quality and will remind any seasoned player of the early '90's graphics style, such as Alien Carnage (the original from Apogee) albeit in a slightly darker tone.

To put it simply, this is a great title you should not miss out on. Alien Breed Obliteration comes very highly recommended.

Towns
Towns brings a fresh new take on the citybuilding/management genre by introducing many RPG features.

Drawing inspiration from games such as Diablo, Dungeon Keeper and Dwarf Fortress, the game has you managing a settlement on top of an active dungeon. Instead of playing the hero who delves deep into the dungeon, how about playing the town that houses and caters to the hero's needs?

Both the RPG and strategic aspects will be fleshed out over a series of sprawling dungeons.

Craft unique weapons, obtain randomized loot and build a settlement capable of holding back the forces that come up from the depths!

melonJS is the result of our enthusiasm and past experiments with Javascript, and came from the feeling that no simple, free and standalone library was available to develop games. And although still a big work in progress (and not yet bug free), melonJS already allows to easily create some nice games (see the Gallery page)
melonJS integrates the popular Tiled map format, allowing to easily design levels using the Tiled map editor, and to focus on the game features itself.

Vertigo - can you handle it?
The Xenophis, a Vulcan exploratory vessel, has incidentally found the mythical sector of Firia where the planets, only reachable through warp tunnels, are told to be made of staggering ice and liquid fire. As a precautionary act, the Xenophis crew are attempting to launch interstellar probes, significantly altered to exist within the Firia atmosphere, in order to learn more of this magnificent piece of the galaxy.

However, evidence shows that the former inhabitants do not like outsiders.

You are the probe, and your mission is to maneuver your way to the other end of the warp tunnel. You are equipped with two shields, one to protect you from icy drones, and another from fiery ones. However, only one shield can be active at a time.

This is a science-fiction scenario written for Celestia. It is in some ways a story, in some ways a huge, 3-dimensional virtual world to explore. It is not a game, although it has some game-like properties. Basically, it is a worldbuilding project with a deep back story you can explore, together with a few mysteries to solve if you are observant and persistent.
To get any joy out of it, you need some basic knowledge about how to navigate in Celestia. If the program is new to you, visit the documentation section on the Motherlode and download one of the tutorials found there. Otherwise, just download the scenario and have fun!
