Character Sets, Collation, Unicode :: Re: Backing up UTF-8 content using mysqldump
Using MySQLDump, make sure to use the '-r <filename>' option, instead of redirecting command-line output to a file ('> <filename>'). Redirection does not capture UTF characters properly, while the -r option does.

Bringing data into OpenOffice 2.0's database
This is the simplest part. Open your spreadsheet, and paste it into your new database... that's all there is to it. When you paste, you'll create a new table with the pasted data. Note that you can append to an existing table or create a new table.
