LangId API Profile
september 2009 by afroginthevalley
LangID is a fast way to retrieve information about any sort of language, without specifying the language. Give the service a piece of text and it provides the English name of the language, the ISO code, and an image of the flag of one of the countries this language is spoken in. The API extends LangID for developers to build on

A new (and different) geo platform - (BlockChalk Blog)
september 2009 by afroginthevalley
What makes the BlockChalk platform unique?
* It’s dead simple. There are no badges, medals, points, unicorns, pirates, or other viral gaming craziness. BlockChalk is about locations and the messages people leave there, that’s it.
* It’s flexible. The interfaces and data structures are general in nature, and we encourage you to build application-specific functionality on top of them. We’ve thought up plenty of uses for BlockChalk, but we think it’s the independent developers who will come up with the best ones.
* It’s anonymous. This means authentication is unnecessary and security concerns are light (when was the last time you heard that?). The API just uses a simple user ID token to tie together a given user’s chalks (i.e. messages they’ve posted) and replies. Anonymity also means that BlockChalk is unconcerned with identity, friends, and social networks. Think more Craigslist, less Facebook.

praized:place=PID is our model, so Praized HQ would be praized:place=4b414e0de1beb6b6cad55213aacbd52d it's a bit ugly (and long) but would work... thinking about a cleaner model, but it would involve more tags, microformats triplicates... could this be generic? place:cite=montreal? Will dig for more info.

Proposal for an OpenSocial RESTful API (DRAFT)
march 2008 by afroginthevalley
The primary goal of this proposal is to serve as a common protocol understood by all OpenSocial clients and servers. If this draft is adopted, it would replace the previously proposed GData-based OpenSocial data API.
