CNET -- IKEA's brilliant Facebook campaign
'The agency created a Facebook profile for the store manager, Gordon Gustavsson. Over a two-week period, it uploaded images from of IKEA showrooms to his Facebook photo album. Then it put out word that the first person to tag their name to a product in the pictures, won it. Facebook being what it is, word got out and needy, enthusiastic Swedes begged for more pictures so that they could tag themselves to a new sofa, a new bed, or a new vase into which they could stick their plastic flowers or their dead grandparents' ashes. ...thousands of Swedes were spreading pictures of IKEA showrooms all around the personal galaxy known as their profile pages.'

catatan -- curatorial practice
'there's the issue of what to include in the "notes," and how to tag the thing — all and both of which amount to curating. It's odd to put these links up in no particular order, save for those associations found in the tags. Some are old, some more current. Some I can't recall, though I'm happy now to find them. Some require more context than I'm able to provide at this time. I suppose there can enter into it an element of vanity : number of links, exoticism, high heterogeneity whose only glue is subtle principle.'

TechLifeBlogged -- Feedburner del.icio.us tag splicing
'We just added the capability to the Flickr Splicer to only splice in photos that have a certain tag. We'd like to expand this feature to the Link Splicer, but we haven't gotten to it yet. There's a nice hack, though, for del.icio.us. If you only want to include links that have a certain tag for a particular user, then enter the user id "id/tag". So, for example, if the user spongebob only wants to splice in links tagged with "clothing", he would enter the user id "spongebob/clothing" in the link splicer.'

SharedEgg
"Much of modern society is defined by material goods. In that sense, people are defined through other people’s eyes based on what they do and do not or cannot own. Whether people admit it or not, judgments are made about people based on what they look like and what they own. These judgments might, in some cases, create unspoken bonds but in most cases create barriers between people. Our goal for this project was to represent the cultural similarities between random people. We might not have any direct relations with each other, yet our lifestyles, what we own, and what we enjoy in life can categorize us into subcultures of society which in the end, can give all of us a sense of belonging and relations with each other. Instead of instantly making a judgment about a person based on what they have or like, our visualization gives a multifaceted glance at each participant and the connections that their diverse attributes have with each other." -- Great images.
