'An inquisitive alien visits the planet to check on our progress as a species, and gets into a conversation with the first person he meets. The alien discovers that we live under the rule of a thing called "government", and wants to understand more about what "government" is, what it does, and why it exists.' -- Two there shall be, a master and a slave: one to embody power and the other to crave it.

The US Government Is Bankrupt by Doug Casey - 13 January 2012
january 2012 by adamcrowe
'...there have been no substantial retrenchments of the US government, and the situation is getting worse, on a hyperbolic curve. Trends in motion tend to stay in motion until a genuine crisis changes them, and this trend has been gaining momentum for over a century. The fact is that when a government collapses, especially when the government is providing all the things the US government does today, people want somebody to fix it; they want their goodies back. It's well known that over 50% of the US population are net recipients of state largess. And the degree of state support and involvement in the US is far, far greater than it was in France, Russia or Germany. After a period of chaos, it's always the people who are most political, who have the most rabid statist ideas who get the public's attention and rise to the top. It seems highly likely that the US will get a savior, someone full of bravado, who assures the booboisie that he can straighten things out – if he is given sufficient power. Perhaps it will be an arrogant windbag like Gingrich, perhaps some general. The government won't wither away; it will reassert itself. I don't see any way around it, actually. We are already moving into a police state...' -- There's no stopping what can't be stopped, no killing what can't be killed.

The Daily Bell -- Rothschilds Give Formal Support to US Direct Democracy?
december 2011 by adamcrowe
'The idea is that a technocracy of the elite can present candidates who are the most "competent" at administration. The corollary to this, of course, is that one must accept EVERY FACET of the CURRENT system to accept that one is voting purely for competence. In other words, if people do not like the current corporatist/authoritarian/totalitarian/militarized state that is being constructed around them, they're simply plumb out of luck. That's because the candidates on this "best of all worlds" won't be running on how to CHANGE what's going on – only on how to administer it BETTER. The idea, of course, is to ensure that any discussion of the FAILURES of government ends up providing an anodyne – that is a solution that INCLUDES MORE government. In other words, government is a terrible problem and the only solution is to increase it and make it better and more responsive – and larger and larger. The absurd end result of such a point of view is an all-encompassing government stretching around the world with ever-vaster resources. The additional resources will be needed to police government itself. In other words, as the corruption grows, so the resources of government must grow.' -- Pied pipers are piping.

'It is fundamentally a problem of the politicians. They have their 'political philosophies, their 'causes', and their 'departmental interests', an eye on specific sectors of the electorate, and on top of this is simple inertia. That government must do x has become a state of mind, along with the belief that x is an absolute necessity for the government. ...they never do enough to address the problems of their reliance on borrowed money. As I have many times argued in this blog, it is a vicious cycle in which the more a country borrows, the more more the economy is structured to consume the resources of the borrowing, and the more dependent the economy is on ongoing borrowing. Increasing the borrowing sees further restructuring of the economy to service the debt, and reduction in borrowing sees the elements of the economy that are unable to survive without the borrowing exposed to the light of day. Then there is the positive feedback. The more borrowing in the economy, the more activity in the economy, the higher the GDP growth, and the greater the GDP growth, the greater the borrowing as the growth is taken to indicative of an ability to repay the borrowing. The greater the borrowing, the more the economy restructures to service the consumption that originates in the borrowing. And so it goes on.....and this is how we come to the current crisis.'

The Daily Bell -- Good Government Is Great! "Der Spiegel" Promotes Transparency Meme
october 2011 by adamcrowe
'Where is the transparency meme coming from? Like so many things, it is apparently being promoted by the elite itself. In fact, there is a group called Transparency International, founded by a former senior executive of the World Bank, which promotes the idea that a transparent government is a perfected one. "Transparency" has seemingly been identified as a way to resuscitate the idea of government as a moral and economic necessity. In fact, both of these themes, transparency and direct democracy, are seemingly an attempt by the Anglosphere power elite to offer a solution to the drawbacks of modern governance via the use of the Internet. ...the elite's think-tank mavens at Tavistock believe they have hit on a promotion that appeals to youngsters while fulfilling its larger agenda of rehabilitating generally the concept of government. The Daily Bell -- Exclusive Interview: Jeffrey Berwick [Daily Bell: What is your take on Ron Paul?]
october 2011 by adamcrowe
'...the US is bankrupt and on the verge of complete collapse. If the US government defaults by going bankrupt and refusing to pay its debts we would see turmoil and a deflationary depression that would make the 1930s look like Disneyland. Granted, if the government stayed out of the way it would be a brief, harsh depression... but it would be so dramatic and terrifying to most people that they'd likely call for the most dictatorial of all politicians to "fix it" which would only make it go from weeks or months to lasting years and decades. Alternatively, if they continue to print dollars to paper over the ongoing default then we will soon go into hyperinflation, which is even worse, and we could be headed for a few years, or more, of a Mad Max style environment in the US. In either case, I'd rather see someone like Obama sit there and be president when they have to announce there is no more Social Security and Medicaid or when the US dollar becomes worthless. My nightmare is that Ron Paul becomes president and a few months later the US collapses and the powers-that-be convince people that the reason it all collapsed was because of his free-market policies and we enter into a deeply dictatorial form of communism in the US.'

'The 1% do not generate any wealth of their own. Everything they have they get by taking from others under the cover of law. They live at our expense. Without us, the State as an institution would die. The State is the only institution in society that is permitted by law to use aggressive force against person and property. The State is the institution that essentially redefines criminal wrongdoing to make itself exempt from the law that governs everyone else. It is the same with every tax, every regulation, every mandate, and every single word of the federal code. It all represents coercion. The State is everybody's enemy. Why don't the protesters get this? Because they are victims of propaganda by the State, doled out in public school, that attempts to blame all human suffering on private parties and free enterprise. They do not comprehend that the real enemy is the institution that brainwashes them to think the way they do. They are right that society is rife with conflicts, and that the contest is wildly lopsided. It is indeed the 99% vs. the 1%. They're just wrong about the identity of the enemy.'

The Monetary Future -- Why the State Demands Control of Money by Hans-Hermann Hoppe
october 2011 by adamcrowe
'On your territory, only you are permitted to produce money. But that is not sufficient. Because as long as money is a regular good that must be expensively produced, there is nothing in it for you except expenses. More importantly, then, you must use your monopoly position in order to lower the production cost and the quality of money as close as possible to zero. Instead of costly quality money such as gold or silver, you must see to it that worthless pieces of paper that can be produced at practically zero cost will become money. Because you can create paper money out of thin air, you can also create credit out of thin air. In fact, because you can create credit out of nothing (without any savings on your part), you can offer loans at cheaper rates than anyone else, even at an interest rate as low as zero (or even at a negative rate). With this ability, not only is your former dependency on banks and the banking industry eliminated; you can, moreover, make banks dependent on you, and you can forge a permanent alliance and complicity between banks and state. You don't even have to become involved in the business of investing the credit yourself. That task, and the risk involved in it, you can safely leave to commercial banks. What you, your central bank, need to do is only this: You create credit out of thin air and then loan this money, at below-market interest rates, to commercial banks. Instead of you paying interest to banks, banks now pay interest to you. And the banks in turn loan out your newly created easy credit to their business friends at somewhat higher but still submarket interest rates (to earn from the interest differential). In addition, to make the banks especially keen on working with you, you may permit the banks to create a certain amount of their own new credit (of checkbook money) in addition and on top of the credit that you have created (fractional-reserve banking).'

The Dawn of Late Fascism by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.
october 2011 by adamcrowe
'The polls show a vast lack of even a modicum of confidence in political leadership, the failures of which are all around us. The longer the depression persists, the more the rebellious spirit grows, and it is not limited to the Wall Street protests. Poverty is growing, incomes are falling, business is being squeezed at every turn, and unemployment is stuck at intolerably high levels. People are angry as never before, and neither political party comes close to offering answers. The State as we’ve known it – and that includes its political parties and its redistributionary, military, regulatory, and money-creating bureaucracies – just can’t get it together. It’s as true now as it has been for some twenty years: the Nation State is in precipitous decline. Once imbued with grandeur and majesty, personified by its Superman powers to accomplish amazing global feats, it is now a wreck and out of ideas. It doesn’t seem that way because the State is more in-your-face than it has been in all of American history. The mask of the State is off. And it has been off for such a long time that we can hardly remember what it looked like when it was on. Fascism, like socialism, cannot achieve its aims. So there is a way in which it makes sense to speak of a stage of history: We are in the stage of late fascism. The grandeur is gone, and all we are left with is a gun pointed at our heads.'

'When government is entrusted with the "redistribution" of wealth, no one should be surprised that the wealth straightaway is used to buy votes, to reward interest groups, to bribe constituencies, and to pay off friends -- not to mention to honor "public servants" with the style of life of which they think they are worthy. In terms of the growth of wealth and improvement of human life, these are all wasted uses. The situation is even worse when the money is borrowed or printed rather than taxed: The borrowed money must be taxed or printed eventually, while the printed money is simply stolen, by creating an artificial price inflation, from those who hold monetary assets (less likely to be the rich, whose assets are varied, than the poor and middle classes). Some people accept this corruption because they are deceived by the moralistic rhetoric that accompanies it (that the "self-interest" of the rich is replaced by the "public spirit" of the politicians); but it is more likely that the rhetoric is waved through more because people are satisfied with their share of the loot. As long as I get my "benefits" (Social Security, Medicare, etc.), then government must be doing a good job. Or, if "programs" exist to end or alleviate poverty, then we can congratulate ourselves on our own benevolence and compassion, as expressed through the "collective" action of government.'

august 2011 by adamcrowe
'Dominant Social Theme: Government will give the kids what their parent didn't—a good A$$ whoopin! The blame game has started and naturally the government will not accept any responsibility. In this case, Cameron actually lays the blame at the parents of the tens of thousands of people rioting throughout the UK. We tend to think that this situation was destined to occur, as it will likely happen in other regions of Western society as well, because the system is financially and morally bankrupt. Inevitably the oppressors will face these sorts of "us and them" backlashes as people witness their living standards dissipate along with their future hopes and dreams. No one condones the riots and certainly this kind of misguided violence will do nothing to solve the declining public confidence in Britain's overly authoritarian government. One thing you can bet on is that the country that boasts the world's greatest concentration of cameras spying on its citizens is likely to get a few more.'

'...many justifications are inevitably advanced for regulation including the idea of "market failure." This is the fundamental defense of modern levelers. But those who defend this concept cannot, when pressed, name a single "failure" caused by the market. Inevitably, when one begins to examine this argument, one finds that it was a previous rule or law that set in motion the distortion that the "market" supposedly caused. Regulation also forces bigness. The US – and the West – long ago passed into a kind of market-fascism where large corporations (themselves a product of regulation) are essentially paired with their regulatory overseers. It doesn't matter whether the regulations seem to make sense or not. The system is evidently and obviously driven by Anglo-American power elite interests and the end result is intended to be one where markets and corporations are big enough to function within the context of a "one world order."'

The only way that democracy can remotely appear to function is through debt. Democracy is debt. Democracy is predation on the unborn and the non-voting. It is the lending of the bankers on the future collateral of the unborn that allows for the existing population to be bribed in a democracy. Of course the government is going to do what the bankers want because without the bankers lending them money they can't bribe the population in order to get into power. Democracy is bribery; bribery is borrowing; borrowing is debt. When you have a system that is based on borrowing and debt, the bankers are going to end up in control of the system. 'Elections were due in Syria in 1947, and the Americans decided to give "a discreet nudge here and there". This involved warning landowners, employers, ward bosses and police chiefs not to intimidate the voters. The American oil companies were paid to put up big posters telling the Syrians to "vote for the candidate of your choice" (apparently this baffled all the Syrians because the posters didn't mention any candidates by name). Hundreds of taxis were hired to take voters to the polls free of charge. And the Americans brought in automatic, tamper-proof voting machines. It didn't go as expected. The landowners and other elites ignored all the warnings and intimidated everyone. There were massive gun fights and scores of people were killed. The taxi-drivers bonded together and sold themselves to different candidates - promising to make their passengers vote the "right" way.' And worst of all, most of the pro-American candidates defected to other foreign powers.'

Freedomain: The Logic of Personal and Political Freedom -- The Gun in the Room
may 2011 by adamcrowe
'One of the most difficult – and essential – challenges faced by libertarians is the constant need to point out “the gun in the room.” We hear nonstop nonsense about the “social good,” the “redistribution of income,” the “education of children” and so on – endless attempts to bury the naked barrel of the state in a mountain of syrupy metaphors. In more than 20 years of debating these issues, though, I’ve never met a single soul who wants to either shoot me himself or have someone else shoot me. I take enormous solace in this fact, because it explains exactly why these euphemisms are so essential to the maintenance and increase of state power. The reason that euphemisms are constantly used to obscure “the gun in the room” is the simple fact that people don’t like violence very much. Most people will do almost anything to avoid a violent situation. Just keep pointing out the gun in the room, over and over, until the world finally starts awake and drops it in horror and loathing.'

Infowars -- Government Orders You Tube To Censor Protest Videos
may 2011 by adamcrowe
'Hayes has embarked on an effort to legally prove that the enforced collection of council tax by government is unlawful because no contract has been agreed between the individual and the state. His argument is based on the sound legal principle that just like the council, Hayes can represent himself as a third party in court and that "Roger Hayes" is a corporation and must be treated as one in the eyes of the law. The British government doesn't want this kind of information going viral in the public domain because it is scared stiff of a repeat of the infamous poll tax riots of 1990, a massive tax revolt in the UK that forced the Thatcher government to scrap the poll tax altogether because of mass civil disobedience and refusal to pay. When viewers in the UK attempt to watch videos of the protest, they are met with the message, "This content is not available in your country due to a government removal request."' -- It is a fraud to conceal a fraud. Freedomain Radio -- #1295 The Rise of Corruption Part 3 - Avoiding Self-Knowledge (MP3)
april 2011 by adamcrowe
"The only knowledge we avoid is self-knowledge. Everybody already knows. When you say the state is violence, everybody already knows it. The reason we know that everybody knows it is the speed at which they get upset. If they didn't already know the implications, they wouldn't get upset. Statism is violence; there is no 'God'. You have to work hard to avoid that knowledge because it's so obvious. So what are they avoiding? They are avoiding self-knowledge: knowledge they already possess about themselves, about society, about their friends and family, about truth, about virtue, about integrity, about courage. All of these things. So when you speak an idea and people get upset, the knowledge that they are avoiding is not what you're saying but what they already know. They are reacting not to you but to themselves. If you have to conform to other people's bigotries or face attack and rejection – that's not a relationship – it's a cult. And everybody knows that."

TechCrunch -- Playmatics Raises $1 Million To Make [Reality Programming], [Government Propaganda] Games
april 2011 by adamcrowe
'Initially a Facebook platform game, Shadow Government will use economic and sustainability data, and government-modeling software from the Millennium Institute to give players a chance to build and run, or destroy their own virtual countries. "[Shadow Government] will also raise awareness about the services that Millennium Institute offers to governments, the private sector and civil society as well as individuals to better inform their green and fair growth policies and responsible behavior." Millennium Institute wants the Shadow Government games to be incorporated into curriculum from primary schools through universities. "We will be able to incorporate real world news and data, sometimes in real-time. We could take a different world-focus [with the game content] depending on what is going on in the world... The Daily Bell -- IMF Austerity Is Headed to America – Watch Out!
april 2011 by adamcrowe
'One needs a problem in order to provide a solution. And the move is on, most obviously, to create ever-closer global governance and perhaps an alternative currency. Modern central banking has done its work, throwing Western economies into confusion and disarray. Europe is already suffering from IMF-style austerity tactics and Britain is implementing them now. The US is next on the list. The IMF austerity message is being "prepped" by the S&P warning... The result is a controlled social implosion that the powers-that-be can capitalize upon to introduce a new system, presumably a more globalized one, complete, perhaps, with a global central bank administering a new currency. IMF provisions featuring privatization, tax hikes and public sector "austerity" are designed in my view to provoke the very public anger that Western elites are counting on to fuel a conversation about yet MORE centralization and MORE governmental control...'

'The power of the Internet to uncover the true nature of elite plans, to expose the fraudulent central banking system, the complicit role of mainstream Western media to spread and reinforce elite dominant social themes, the ever-ready and vociferous support of the Vatican, etc. etc. This is what the elite are afraid of and, similar to how the Roman Catholic Church and European nobility attempted by force to restrict the power of the Gutenberg Press when the truth spreading impact of it began to shatter their control over European citizenry, the elite's of today are now resorting to "legalized force" in an attempt to protect their pillars of control from crumbling once again. Will the power elite be victorious in squelching Internet Reformation (IR)?' -- What we need right now is a clear message to the people of this country. '...control, control and more control is the statist's answer to everything, as if statists had a clue how to manage things without running them to the ground like virtually all statists systems (that do not benefit from cheap oil or other vital resources) do eventually. Truth is we are in for a rough ride and few people will weather it well. And our leaders – would be rulers, in fact – don't want to admit it since they always want to reserve the right to restart the welfare state so they can continue to pretend to serve the public. But as I recently discovered Charles de Gaulle to have said, "In order to become the master, the politician poses as the servant." We all will be asked for sacrifices and to accept that those in charge of the public treasury are blameless; they were merely responding to their constituents and hadn't a chance to inform them of the facts of economic life, the plainest of them being that one just cannot get blood out of a turnip.'

Do We Ever Really Get Out of Anarchy? by Alfred G. Cuzán (PDF)
march 2011 by adamcrowe
'I or any other citizen or subject must accept the rulings of government in our relations with others. We are required to abide by the law of this "third party." However, such a "third party" arrangement for society is non-existent among those who exercise the power of government themselves. In other words, there is no "third party" to make and enforce judgments among the individual members who make up the third party itself. The rulers still remain in a state of anarchy vis-a-vis each other. They settle disputes among themselves, without regard for a Government (an entity outside themselves). Anarchy still exists. Only whereas without government it was market or natural anarchy, it is now a political anarchy, an anarchy inside power. -- ...anarchy, like matter, never disappears—it only changes form. Anarchy is either market anarchy or political anarchy. -- ...anarchy is not completely abolished by government but reserved, so to speak, for the rulers only...'

The Daily Bell -- Watch Out, Africa ... The World Bank Has a 'Plan'
march 2011 by adamcrowe
'...the current strategy that the World Bank is proposing for Africa is in keeping with the larger economic illiteracy that informs Western world-spanning institutions generally. The World Bank is an agent of the Anglo-American power elite. Its real job is one of neo-colonialism. It propagates Anglo-American power by supporting "governance" – the various appurtenances of developing nation-states that are supposed to ensure that "investments" are implemented in the intended manner. Western powers-that-be operate via mercantilism; by pulling the levers of government behind the scenes. Without government there are no levers and thus no availability of control mechanisms. Africa is to become the world's next China. This has two advantages for the power elite. First, it creates an entity that can purchase yet more sovereign debt from the West – yet another buyer of last resort, a function that Japan once served and China as well.'

The Daily Bell -- Mervyn King Caught Spreading a Meme
march 2011 by adamcrowe
'King's statement to the Treasury Select Committee as reported in the UK Telegraph is a pitch-perfect defense of central banking using the meme of private-sector blame. ...central banking blows up economies, leading to more regulation which further concentrates power in the hands of a few, allowing government and society to be even more efficiently run by the elite via mercantilism. It's kind of a closed feedback loop. The more chaos, the more regulation, the more leverage the elite has to reignite the process. Power is continually being centralized and the middle classes themselves (the elite's ultimate target) will actually clamor for the regulation that facilitates the process. In order to initiate the process, blame must be cast. There has not been enough anger at the private banking sector, especially in Britain where wrath has been focused – most alarmingly from the elite's point of view – at central banking itself. This is a direct result of the Internet...'

february 2011 by adamcrowe
'NASA was founded in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower for the express purpose of locating and assassinating God. By 1969, it had completed a successful lunar landing, bringing mankind that much closer to neutralizing the Almighty. It was in that year that U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first to step on the moon, and uttered the legendary phrase, "Where are you, God, you fucking faggot? Come and get me!" Over the years, officials told reporters, God had proved to be an elusive and formidable foe. In 1986, He destroyed the Challenger shuttle, killing all seven crew members, including Christa McAuliffe, a special operative who had been given orders to seduce and then strangle God with garrote wire. The Lord subsequently blew up the Columbia Destroyer Shuttle on reentry in 2003, and several times sabotaged the Hubble Space Telescope, a large piece of surveillance equipment launched into orbit in 1990 to monitor His activities.'

By building up Assange, the elite profits from his credibility and co-ops that of the Internet itself. Assange is thus, potentially, a very important person in the scheme of things. Assange is situated at the center of important elite memes: the Internet itself; transparency as a way of making global government more tolerable and even appealing; and the "outsider" as a force for good, remaking centralized authority into an intimate and responsive endeavor. Assange, despite his libertarian musings, seems not to want to reduce the size of government so much as to make it more efficient and viable. Is the idea, eventually, to crash the dollar and set up a global currency in its place? We have already hypothesized that these manipulated revolutions (if they are fully realized) will give rise to Islamic states. Now we will further explore the idea that the West is hoping to install a variety of "democratic" regimes – many of them perhaps "national unity governments," with Islamic overtones. These overthrows might accomplish numerous purposes, including the furtherance of elite globalism. The power elite has always had an affection for national unity governments ... The idea is that by reasoning together, opponents can build better and more efficient governments – that do more things for more people. All these revolutions coming at once are almost too good to be true. And perhaps they are.'

The new generation New media: in the 1960s to 1980s, the government could control the media, because it was all state owned, or they can ban it (newspapers). Starting in the 90s, things changed. 'The mindset of the middle class is off-putting—to the heterodox, to the sovereign, and to the individualist. The mindset is a dull recital on the virtues of moderation and proscription: don't stay up too late; don't drink too much; don't exercise too hard; don't risk too much; don't challenge authority; don't question orthodoxy. Democracy is particularly appealing to the middle class because it appeals to a faux sense of empowerment. The middle class is the human equivalent of an animal herd, because it never learns the concepts of unintended consequences, moral hazards, and opportunity costs. Such concepts are never taught, for obvious reasons, in its government-run education system. That the middle class pretends to understand the concepts of freedom and liberty makes it even more contemptible. Threaten the middle class's government-sponsored rice bowl with the specifics of liberty and it reflexively reacts with the brand of opprobrium: radical.'

'A new feudalism is being born. It is a quite deliberate effort of the power elite in our view, but people don't notice it – or haven't verbalized it – because it is difficult to analyze something when one is in the middle of it. But the feudal evolution is surely occurring. There is a sense of entitlement, even arrogance, among TSA employees, or so it seems; and this is evidently and obviously shared by other government workers in the US, including law enforcement officials. There are endless reports in mainstream media of inappropriate use of tazers, and of outright shootings; the drug-war has been especially corrosive to American civil rights, encouraging government "takings" of private property without due process. Government service is increasingly glorified, if not rhetorically than through compensation. The average government worker apparently makes up to 50 percent more than the average individual in the private sector. Gradually a two-tier society is created.'

'This is the issue: "How can the US cease its warring when so many people in that beleaguered country depend on conflict for their employment?" The US unemployment or under-employment rate (the real one) is somewhere between 25 and 30 percent. To reduce or eliminate garrisons in both Iraq and Afghanistan would inject hundreds of thousands of additional individuals into an economy that is struggling to provide employment to available workers. (Not to mention the private-sector "defense" jobs that would be made redundant.) And assuming that the additional workers find jobs; wouldn't they be at substantially lower salaries than their existing military compensations?" Were the US to suffer such an influx of unemployed as a result of adopting a sensible foreign policy rather than acting as the policemen for global morality, it is likely that trade unions and other leftist organizations would demand the existing wages of the military workers be maintained at current levels.'

YouTube -- Freedomain Radio: True News: 'No Place for Violence in our Political Discourse' ?!?!?
january 2011 by adamcrowe
'It's hard to get upset with people who are so deluded...' -- "Politics is violence. Government is force. 'Laws' are violence. Prison is coercion. The police kidnap and imprison. National debts are theft from the unborn. Taxes are theft. Tariffs, regulations are all the initiation of force. The State is a monopoly agency for the initiation of force in a geographical area. The State is the very definition of violence. Government is exactly what people don't want to do because they have to be forced. Whatever someone is doing when they have a gun to their head, is exactly what they don't want to do."
