'The Climate Research Unit (CRU) in the UK was set up in 1971 with funding from Shell and BP... The CRU was still being funded in 2008 by Shell, BP, the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate and UK Nirex LTD (the nuclear waste people in the UK) This is important to know, for two reasons. Firstly, the key institution providing support for Global Warming theories and the basis for the IPCC findings receives funding from “Big Oil” and the nuclear power industry. Secondly, the research from the institution which is perceived to be independent publicly funded research, is actually beholden to soft money, CRU is in fact a business. -- The IEA put a date on peak oil production THIS WEEK, so if the CO2 scare does not pan out they are already starting to put the ‘Peak Oil’ story into play. It is also the 2020 date -- Since there was not enough money in coal it would not be financially rewarding to simply try to promote coal as a replacement for oil. ...connect the dots and follow the money.'

The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.'

It may have been written in 1974, but the depictions are uncannily familiar: climate change, it says, will lead to floods and famines, and leaders in climatology are issuing stark warnings about threats to ‘the stability of most states’. The only thing to differentiate it from today’s scaremongering is the fact that the CIA in 1974 was concerned about global cooling, not warming. The report even mentions a ‘consensus’ among scientists.'

Repentant "bone-headed" "denier" turns AGW-proponent. Nice try, but the author gets through 3 pages without supplying any evidence for CO2-driven climate change beyond a few appeals to authority and even ends with: "...it doesn’t matter whether you think warming is caused by human activity. What matters is the general principle that you do not disturb complex systems." Which amounts to: We have no better explanation than CO2-driven climate change and if we just do something—anything—we may stumble upon a cure to a non-existent problem and won't we all feel better about ourselves for not upsetting a 'non-linear complex system'. -- A deluded mind is certainly a complex system! Still I applaud the ability to change one's mind, it's just a shame this one doesn't recognise argument with evidence.
