Gul Macet to Legate Damar or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cardassians
Interesting metaphor. I usually focus on the Klingon cold war stories, but he's right in that Cardassian culture is in some ways more Russian.

Daring Fireball: Separating the Baby From the Bath Water
Good summary of the lies that the one-man show The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs are built upon. It's too bad, because it may mean other reports of labor abuses in China will be given less weight, cried-wolf style. It sounds like Apple is doing among the best, but it isn't wrong that we as consumers are complicit.

Debate rages as Spotify, MOG, and Rdio kill / save the music industry | The Verge
Interesting. I think the key point is this: "I suppose what I really want is some sort of "free range" sticker slapped on my music consumption, so that I know the artist was ethically treated in this transaction." Artist compensation is hard, and we really have no idea as consumers if that goal is being achieved by our purchase/subscription/eyeballs.
