Karlberg's visual ingenuity transforms a still life into a mystery, riddled with visual clues. His pictures often display a sheen of luxury combined with strong emotions, tense moods, and a visceral feeling of presence. The images entice the viewer to pause and search for the story hidden within.

My use of documentary photography is a way of gaining a greater understanding about the world in which we live. I aim to capture forgotten places and question the surrounding circumstances, reasons and repercussions. Through my stories I hope to provide a voice for the people I have documented and to expose the situations in which they find themselves.

Carl Kleiner

"With colour, clever geometry and subtle wit; with investigative zeal and a curious, roving eye; with ideas both outlandish and easy to understand, Carl Kleiner evades creative definition. As happy in the real world as he is in the studio, the Stockholm-based photographer blurs the boundaries of image-making, seamlessly combining countless photographic facets to create a body of work that's fun and clever and everything in between." Alex Moshakis

"This online portfolio includes documentation of architectural environments including interiors, landscape and what has been neglected. Some of these photographs convey the cultural expression of mankind in places where people seldom look. While others have aesthetic and/or functional roles and have become noteworthy landmarks." Troy Moth
october 2011 by Anne
Born in a remote tree-planting camp on the west coast of Canada and spent the first few years of life in a tent guarded by large dogs. He loved the wild and abundant nature he grew up immersed in, but eventually the call to adventure became too much and he moved, first across Canada to the big city (Toronto), then across the world to India, to pursue a career in photography. Troy has worked for numerous commercial and editorial clients .... But he's never forgotten his roots, so with a career in fashion now behind him, he's focusing instead on his art, and living, once again, deep in a forest on the west coast of Canada.

How do you photograph one of the most secretive countries in the world?
For Charlie Crane the answer was simple, photograph what they want you to see. If there is no possibility of getting underneath the surface then the answer was to photograph the surface itself.
