While joking around with their friends, Merlin says that Arthur is stupid. Arthur doesn't take it well because he's got dyslexia and Uther always looked down on him for it. He starts to retreat into himself, being angry and difficult. It's up to Merlin to make him realise he's brilliant and valuable and the best thing in Merlin's life.

based on "Our John is a Gay Man Now" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrqHKKjm7Z0) - slightly cracky but also half-serious: Arthur comes out, Uther behaves like C.T. in the linked vid. I don't want the exact same story just something based on it.

I'm imagining Uther heads or competes for the leadership of some liberal political party and he's accused of being either too conservative in his private life or not as liberal as his public views proclaim (but not outright homophobic) and while he doesn't love Arthur any differently for being gay (so he really is okay with it) he also sort of uses his son's recent coming out to further his political standing, and proudly announces it to everyone he meets (I'm thinking: politicians and people in high positions) - complete with slightly inappropriate Christmas present at a high-brow charity Christmas party. (Merlin is Arthur's "little friend" whose sexuality was never in question because he looks too young to even think about sex yet.) Would like the Merlin/Arthur part a bit more prominent than in the vid.

Arthur/Merlin modern AU

Based on "our John is a gay man now" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrqHKKjm7Z0), as above. But instead of Uther being the Catherine Tate parent, it's Merlin's mum.

Merlin is reincarnated as John Leary, a Northern Irish working-class boy. He meets Arthur, the posh English boy. Arthur remembers his previous life and pursues Merlin. Merlin doesn't remember anything and is rather shy, not really thinking that someone like Arthur could love him.

Merlin's mum's reaction to Arthur is up to you, but I would love it if she ships them HARD ("I bet he's got a lovely cock."). Because you know Hunith does, and Catherine Tate would totally ship them, too.

Crack is super, but if there's some seriousness in it as well, I would be a happy bunny.

1) Merlin is a boy but in disguise because he had saved the wrong person and now he is hiding. His magic shields him with an illusion that doesn't change his body, not even the sight people see, it just changes their perception of that sight so that they think he is a girl, even if they see a man's body - a bit like the troll's magic had made Uther accept her as his beloved wife even when her true appearance had been revealed.

2) Arthur had never taken a mistress because it makes him uncomfortable. He tells himself it's because of what Morgana tells him: that it is degrading to the girls to be just expected to give over their body against their will - but he had offers from willing maids and had not accepted them either. There are rumours about him already, that there's something wrong with him, that his equipment doesn't work, and Uther doesn't like that at all. In reality, Arthur just prefers the company of men (but he is in denial)...

I'd love to read about the situation they find themselves in at the beginning and how they work through it, the awkwardness when they come home and can't voice what they want and when they do finally fess up, how they have a lot of fun with it.
